My nephew is 10...he still wakes up at night needing comfort. I cannot imagine this poor child alone in a cell, and what he must be going through

Be very careful with this - many communities have asked allies NOT to intervene. To be present and witness, but to stay calm and practice nonviolence. Agents may take out their anger and frustration on detainees, and we don't want to do anything that could put our neighbors in more danger.

Would also note that if law enforcement sees your activities as "confrontational," they may take out their anger or "revenge" on the detainees. This is already an incredibly traumatic event, and we want to avoid doing anything that could put our neighbors in more danger.

Orrrr the media isn't showing protests, and/or many actions are needfully quiet and not broadcast on social media

GDP is an average. Sure, it's higher today than 30 years ago, but wealth is increasingly concentrated in a handful of ultra ultra ultra rich dudes. So while the average may have increased, a lot of people are worse off, financially.

Even if it were acceptable to compromise on human rights (it isn't), it's never a compromise. It's a test balloon, an opportunity to divide us, or an attempt to desensitize us - sometimes all of the above.

FEMA would very much like to reinstate the grants... But they're not exactly running the show anymore.

Thank you so much! For now I feel very lucky - my coworkers have banded together and my supervisors are good people. It's like... A dumpster fire, but if we have to go through it, I'm so glad it's with them?

I wish you all had the visuals on that part. Wide eyes, leaning forward, absolutely astounded to have learned it and eager to share it with us - expecting all of us to be equally shocked.

Would I find them here in your Bluesky feed or is there a website you recommend? I am part of an ICE-watch group and would love to make sure they're part of our toolkit (though I'd be surprised if they aren't already - your name & resources come up frequently in related networks)

Protestors mask to keep each other safe from COVID and other communicable diseases, AND to keep ourselves safe from an autoritarian government.
