I served on a jury today for the first time. I feel rough about the whole thing, and the case was relatively uncomplicated. It felt momentous to be serving on a municipal case right now, while fascism eats the federal government, and see a bunch of people in our system trying their best down here.

I don't think we talk enough about how dignity is also a human right. Food, water, shelter, education, health care, representation...all of those are human rights that everyone should receive regardless of who they are. But it's also a right to not have to beg for them.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.
