I’ve been humming that Tom Lehrer song all week. “When the rockets go up, who cares where they come down?”

In special circumstances, he might be able to catch radio through his braces. Maybe this will enhance the perceived value?

Exactly. Talking about focus on criminals is a cover story that doesn't mirror the facts.

Operation "Who wrote our Constitution" would like a word, too.

What I have found confusing in some of these court cases is why the default wouldn't be, "No one gets arrested, imprisoned, or thrown out of the country until the case is resolved."

Absolute insanity that in our country government workers could mask up and/or refuse to give their names or other relevant information.

The acceptable answer is the truth, which clearly is YES.

e.g., he changed the game for EVs, made them cool and up-market.

Musk is tremendously gifted and self-important. He's not well suited to government, which is supposed to be "for the people". But SM is a dark human who reminds me of Nazis, so yeah not really a big decision here.

"What's the worst thing that could happen if we elect an awful person with no moral compass?" He asked.

So you’re saying that if we pick a bunch of incompetent people solely for their fealty, then they’ll do and say a bunch of stupid things that will come back to bite us?

I’ve been seeing some interviews with Trump supporters recently where they lament government actions on them personally, but still support these actions in general. I guess in life it is tricky to be an adult.

If I vote for someone who promises to kick out all immigrants, then I should not be surprised when my family or coworkers or neighbors are kicked out on flimsy pretexts, such as butterfly tattoos on their arm.

If I vote for someone who promises to slash and burn government, then I should be prepared for no government assistance in the event of natural disasters.

If I vote for candidates who promised to expand social services, then I should be prepared to pay higher taxes. It does not mean that I will revel in my higher taxes, but I should be prepared to do so.

No one should take joy in the suffering of others. Slight counterpoint is that we should take some responsibility for our votes.

It can't be that hard for Vanguard (or whomever) to track top gov officials and what they're buying and selling? Just make a new fund called, I dunno, maybe, "Insider Trading Top 100".

I think doling out contracts for specific tangible items makes a ton of sense, but yes the flights should still be government controlled. Ditto prisons ;)

Bingo. If it's such a terrifying discovery, then why isn't he going on about Trump rambling incoherently every time he speaks?

I don't mean to be that guy, but NSS. Only rose tinted glasses saw Trump getting meaningful concessions out of Putin.

ok ok, so yes I agree a No Kings rally is better ... unless ... will the parachutists be delivering a plane? I mean, c'mon, that would be fantastic if there were like 100 people parachuting down and they were hand delivering an actual airplane, right?

Their CEOs are probably mostly concerned with keeping their jobs past the next quarter earnings report?

Any platform that grows beyond n users is going to have weird stuff going on. That's different from having the owner/manager intentionally polluting with lies and deceit and trying to make it a money making operation.

It's certainly authoritarian, not capitalist, not free market.

So Netanyahu has done what decades of Palestinian leaders couldn't do. He has isolated Israel and made even Jews around the world feel like Israel is the immoral bully in the Middle East.
comment in response to
post
The only explanation that has made sense is a combination of Netanyahu trying to stay in power and out of jail (again, morally bankrupt), and Israeli leaders wanting to find a way to remove all Palestinians from Gaza (again, morally bankrupt, but yes also stupid because world backlash).

I'm no FP expert, but on October 7th I stayed at a Motel 6 (isn't that the ad?) and it seemed super obvious that a big military response would result in horrific civilian casualties (ergo, morally unacceptable) and that a guerilla army cannot be eliminated by military force (ergo, stupid).

The two politicians I am most interested in listening to are her and Pete Buttigieg. I feel like both of them have a way of seeing through the smoke and pulling out the core issue that needs to be thought about or decided on. everyone else just blabbers.

in our government, there is a big, beautiful safeguard, the power for Congress to impeach the president. So while it’s easy for us to look at a single person who is causing all this damage and mayhem and corruption, the reality is most of the elected Republicans are going along with it.
