Hey I'm Mitch, some guy with an engineering degree, a construction job, a lot of cats and a house full of projects that's a local Democratic chair. 📍Massachusetts

I do not dignify these people with "conservative" because there is nothing they want to conserve. Not our history rule of law and constitutional order. Not the dignity and decency of society. Not the land of the country itself. Nothing, nothing but destruction.

Some of the carnage this big awful mess will inflict can get repealed by the next administration. But lives lost to lack of food or medical care, national parks sold off and stripped for coal, those, those are gone for good. Scars forever. I can trust my Senators will vote no. Be sure to call yours.

they don’t have the votes *yet*, at least, call your senators.

Gonna level with you bro I think DHS needs to be dissolved after this. Regardless of what national security functions fall under its remit, it's clearly institutionally constructed in such a way allows it to be used as an unaccountable tool of executive power. Can't reform your way out of that.

This is exactly the right tone when privileged people suffer minor or temporary consequences standing up for powerless people. It’s still about the powerless people. ICE is Gestapo trash.

The Atlantic should be ashamed of publishing this nightmare piece from Liz Bruenig, whose callous dismissal of Adriana Smith's dignity is one of the most shocking things I've ever read.

Well, that didn't last long. DHS told staff it was reversing guidance issued last week that agents were not to conduct immigration raids at farms, hotels and restaurants. Shadow President Stephen Miller wins again. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

It is extremely important to treat moral outrages as though they are morally outrageous. If you want a society where this sort of grotesque behavior, then you need to act like it is already is.

“woke-busting”

A.G. Sulzberger saw a man suffer consequences for sexually abusing junior staff and decided we couldn't have that happen again.

This is super cool and I hope stuff like this takes off. Animal protein is delicious and good for you, and it would be awesome if we could get more of it without killing animals or degrading the environment.

i think it's just sort of inherent to the act that begging people for money via email and text is going to be awkward and offputting. there just really isn't a smooth way to do it, particularly if you're doing it regularly every few years for decades.

they were all trying to find the guy that did this

one of the really challenging asymmetries in american politics is that democrats are asked to answer for the actions of every single hypothetical democratic voter in the country but republican lawmakers are not even asked about the behavior of their own elected peers

two sitting senators propagating a vile lie about the murder of a democratic politician and attempted murder of another because the killer shares their own beliefs, which are not controversial within the party, is egregiously immoral conduct and reporters should reference it in those terms.

I'm curious if others encountered this "No Kings was aCkShUaLlY funded by Walmart" right wing propaganda talking point coming from folks on the left. Three people I know independently asked me about this yesterday. IMO, it's an interesting & depressing case study in propaganda.

The owner of Twitter sends out 100 right wing propaganda tweets every single day and the algorithm is set up so that every single person on Twitter has to see every single one of these tweets. Now here’s another piece about Blue Sky’s ideological diversity problem.

This looks like an 80s comedy where John Belushi & some stoners steal a tank for shits & giggles

dawg

bizarre both-sideism in this story about *fucking germ theory*. NPR really have been embarassing themselves of late.

One block over from the White House: the aspirational security line setup

We had a great turnout here today for #NoKings in Lowell! Around 500-700 people came to Kerouac Park.

Trump has not only pardoned insurrectionists who tried to violently overturn an election result but is now “settling” lawsuits by those insurrectionists, giving them multimillion dollar rewards for their political violence. There’s a straight line to the Minnesota assassin trying to seize…

Boston showed up for No Kings Day!

State Street outside the federal building in #Springfield.

States should be passing laws that make concealing one's identity while dressed as a police officer presumptive probable cause for an arrest for impersonating a police officer.

I'm getting ready to head over - join us in downtown Lowell!

I’m horrified by the political assassination of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and attempted murder of Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in Minnesota.
