BREAKING: Starmer’s backed down on cutting disability benefits. Pressure is working. Now let’s make it clear - tax the ultra rich, not the sick and disabled. Sign now while the government is watching! act.38degrees.org.uk/act/tax-the-...

Disability Labour - the Labour Party’s official disabled person’s affiliate organisation - has issued a statement that the government’s concessions are insufficient and is calling on all MPs to vote against the benefits Bill on Tuesday

Of course it’s a mess. Liz Kendall had a dream but no real understanding and now it’s biting her in the backside. They need to start again and consult properly and listen. As they say in the British Army, proper planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance. ♿️ apple.news/AuaCDIQSfSru...

After 17 years as a carer, I thought we’d won. Now Labour says: future claimants don’t deserve the same support. This isn’t a fix. It’s a funeral in slow motion. 👉 voxpoliticalonline.com?p=98741 #PIP #DWP #DisabilityJustice #CarersVoices #LabourBetrayal

If they vote the bill through on Tuesday then they’re definitely not listening. #TakingThePIP #WelfareNotWarfare #DisabilityRights ♿️ apple.news/A5ODJ1AIeSeO...

#DisabilitySky #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePIP It's exhausting the relentlessness of the government right now - it's hard enough to get rest at the best of times, nothing about being disabled is conducive to resting or looking after your disabled body. www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/public-...

Here’s an idea. Stop rushing through the horrific welfare bill and focus on this instead. I can assure you that many of the general public are impacted by both. I bet they’d speed it up if £ cuts were involved. #RentersRights #DisabilityRights apple.news/AxbsCIYiRQMa...

The govts proposed climbdown for current recipients of PIP and UC health is welcome. But it's just poverty, delayed - poverty postponed - for millions of people in the future. So, for those reasons, I'll be voting against. #TakingThePIP #WelfareBill

Why the new disability benefits concessions don’t make sense, and why the Bill must still be opposed, explained in under 90 seconds:

Funny what people reserve their outrage for. A. Children getting blown to bits in cold blood? B. Scootering into an RAF base to spray some paint on a plane? Decisions, decisions ....

Wes Streeting is not the next leader of the Labour Party

“Whether you acquire disability at birth, five years ago or tomorrow, it should be the same for everyone.” Labour MP Alex Sobel says any disparities in how welfare claims are reviewed would make him “very uncomfortable”. #Newsnight

My MP (who is against the benefit cuts) questioning Stephen Timms. #TakingThePIP

Yesterday, I asked the government how many carers will lose out under their new welfare reforms. People like Kathryn in Horsham have already sacrificed so much to care for loved ones. Now, they face losing up to £8,000 a year. I urge the government to rethink this. #PIP #Welfare

The government has a consultation on their welfare reforms, which closes on 30 June. Please take part and share with anyone else who may be impacted. Email: [email protected] or fill in this form👇   forms.office.com/pages/respon...

Starmer's concessions on disability benefit cuts are divide and rule. A disabled person applying before Nov 2026 would get Pip and UC health element, receives £8,930 in total. Person applying after Nov 2026 would get £2,370, no PIP. Inhumane Bill must be stopped.

Every single day Israel is killing 30-100 Palestinians when they go to try collect food from the Israeli distribution centres. This is so people become too scared to go and starve to death. The world does nothing, and the Media covers it up.

This bill must be scrapped and started again. The concessions are to get it through, not to help the disabled. I’d have been made homeless from the cuts. New claimants will be too and I don’t believe they’ll protect existing ones longer than they have to. 🧵 apple.news/ArN3iI6R1Rsu...

1. Starmer was warned and warned that his benefits cuts were not just cruel and unfair, but a political disaster. He dismissed the warnings, even this week, as no more than "noises off". Now, as the disaster materialises, he's desperately backtracking. Here's an idea: how about listening? 🧵

Never forget that while this government is prepared to ruin the lives of disabled people for the sake of £5bn, it is simultaneously lavishing far greater sums on pointless and destructive white elephants, of which this is just one.

Here we have it. The percentage on disability benefits is up due to the cost of living crisis. People who were already disabled have applied for financial support they’re entitled to. They hadn’t before when they could cover the extra costs themselves. Not being able to pay bills will do that. ♿️

Political pressure means a reprieve for some who were set to be cruelly harmed, but this is way too small a concession to accept. Greens demand the full withdrawal of cuts to PIP and any changes only through working with Disabled people to get it right. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

No to a 2-tier benefits system. No to harming disabled people of the future. No to giving any way in for them to remove support to new or existing claimants

Any MP backs down now is a fucking coward… a traitor who thinks it’s okay to kill disabled people as long as it’s a few less. They’ll be remembered just as badly as the rest.

Just incredibly insulting.

The concession made by the government are welcome but don’t go far enough
