Many compliments to the core team at NeLL (nell.eu) and Leiden University Medical Centre and all collaborators at this great project!

Importantly, this also holds for the lower SEP subgroup.
This makes Stopcoach one of the few smoking cessation mHealth interventions that also meets the needs of people with lower SEP who smoke. (3/4)

…and built an app for the Dutch context, to be used in combination with smoking cessation counselling (SCC).
The current study shows that addition of the Stopcoach app to SCC appears effective and feasible. (2/4)

AND they’re gone! 🍾
Dutch extreme far right government has fallen – hopefully we’ll have a new election soon
Let this be an example to every other far-right government currently out there 🍃

Things are getting even more interesting at the moment, given the apparent imminent collapse of ‘our’ extreme far right government. Keeping my fingers crossed, people nos.nl/l/2569717

Where did they get that figure? (Can’t read the article because of paywall).
ECDC reports state 35,212 measles cases in the EU in 2024. Your point still stands, of course: 35k is an order of magnitude more than the US (even if >85% were in one country, Romania) www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/publicati...

I bought this nice cotton No One Is Illegal tote bag from Stichting Gast, a volunteer group who help refugees with housing and everything else. If you happen to have some spare money lying aroond, I can heartily recommend donating to their cause www.stichtinggast.nl/helpen/doner...

Nudging is a grift, people

Recently, because of building in the area, the rubbish bins have been replaced by a temporary solution: a larger container. The former nudge now finally has an actual use: as a sign indicating where to leave your full bin liners

Image from November 2024: Your regular reminder that if you don’t provide a course of action that fits people’s needs, you can #nudge them until their hair goes green, but they will not change their behaviour

Also, the little ‘garden’ surrounding the bin is now half destroyed.

Nor does it work in practice. This is from February 2022. You know you’ve lost when you have to embellish your nudge with explanatory posters

The prying eyes nudge is supposed to make people adhere to norms. Here’s the original paper, describing a study set in a psychology department coffee room: doi.org/10.1098/rsbl.... The research does not replicate, of course: doi.org/10.1024/1421...

My talk will go deeper into the work that I did together with Lieke Pijnenborg at OnePlanet Research Center and presented at DRS2024 Boston last year.

I will present work on whether we can (and should) automatically and unobtrusively measure broader aspects of mental wellbeing than just the usual suspects (step count and heart rhythm variability masquerading as 'stress level' or 'body battery').

So, unfortunately, this is not an act of resistance against President Elmo, just sensible financial strategy.
However, when even conservative investors such as pension funds are turning away from a company, that is a sign things are changing, no?

Although the fund did protest the gigantic bonus Musk gave himself last autumn, and considers the far-right politics a reason to abstain from investing in Tesla, because it constitutes a financial risk in the longer term (pension funds being in for the long haul rather than short-term gains)
