Turns out someone pushed the alarm button on the elevator. We are in a preschool that thing gets pushed at least once a week. Our alarm company is very aware it's not an emergency.

Thank you for all the preschool references. I listened while cooking for 120 preschoolers. Also my favorite heavy metal song is if you are happy and you know it Bang your head youtu.be/5aPpvTFfOJE?...

The way you are winding your copp is interesting, how stable a spin do you get with a top whirl and heavy bottom copp?

Local groups in the Seattle area, online groups on Ravelry. What kind of group are you looking for?

My understanding of avocado dying is that the color developed best with an alkaline dyebath. (Ie add baking soda not vinegar). The tanins in the avocado will help the color adhere to the yarn but a mordant like alumn will help. Alumn is not food safe and needs a dedicated pot.

What did you mordant the wool with?

What if some of the ingredients are cold (fresh lettuce, tomatoes etc) and some hot (fried chicken) Or alternatively sour cream, tomatoes and cold avocado with hot rice, & beans?

I love your squishy fat yarn. I have a lot of trouble getting fat singles. This looks like a lot of fun.

Combing creates waste. If you look at your waste and there is still usable fiber you can comb that out. But it the fiber is very short it's will be difficult to spin. You could felt with it. I sometimes comb out the best stuff and card the mediocre stuff.

Come join us in Edmonds at Stranded by the sea. It's a lovely LYS with with spinning and weaving supplies. We've got a great group for knit night and spinning socials as well.

My spinning circle did outings last summer. We went to Shakespeare in the Park, some jazz concerts in local parks, and took a ferry ride to a Farmers market. It was a lot of fun

Nice looking Lendrum

Lendrums are awesome. There's a cult of Lendrum board on Ravelry if you have any questions but they are very versatile.

I currently have some kids obsessed with egg hatching and they want me to hatch a soccer ball by shoving it up my skirt. All of our interactions and conversations about consent and bodily autonomy are recorded. Kids need to be taught this stuff so they aren't taken advantage of.

It's a serious problem but hiding from it won't change things. I work with young children and I am so thankful there are cameras everywhere because it protects the kids and me.

That was supposed to be vette their leaders

Also it looks like Jim Keys resigned in 2017 and then died. So he is no longer involved with the direction of the UUA. Have you have issues with anyone currently involved with the organization now?

If something happened today as a mandatory reporter I would make a CPS report as I am mandated to do. And bring it to the attention of anyone I thought would be useful. Keeping quiet helps no one not even the people who are doing the abuse (because they need help to stop).

I was involved with UUA very briefly as a young child. The most dramatic thing that happened was my brother jumping off a chair reenacting the battle of Jericho and needing stitches. I have recently been researching local UUA congregations as a way to become more active in the community.

I do know someone who was sexually assaulted by other boy scouts whose leadership told him it didn't happen. It's not just religious organizations that have problems.
comment in response to post
Not in uua. I was active in Job's daughters and Boy scouts and had some sketchy leaders. I am much more impressed with how Girl scouts and Campfire Boys and girls get their leaders. My experiences with both these organizations have been very positive.

Also thank you for pointing out this information I want to be aware of the history of the group good and bad. I am not thrilled about every aspect of Uua but I am trying to find people moving forward because crawling under the bed and hiding my head won't get me a world worth living in.

Join a congregation that doesn't tolerate misconduct and point it out when I see it. A lot of what came up in the class was very pie in the sky btw and bye I admit, but some of the things we came up with are actionable and we are working to create a better world.

I have been sexually harassed by youth leaders, customers at my job, and acquaintance. My response today is very different than it used to be. My advice to coworkers today is very different than it used to be. I am moving forward and demanding better.

Uua is full of individuals that can make mistakes. I am not expecting perfection from any organization, I want a path forward. Edmonds Unitarian has been very welcoming and moving in a political direction I support. Pointing out the bad apples and demanding change is how we create a better world.

Field is such a fun plant. Lots of different shades. What are you using as a mordant?

You can also get really small onions or shallots peel them coat them in melted butter and roast them at 325f for 45 ish minutes (looking for golden and soft not charcoal briquettes)
