Thank you to Richard at @interabangbooks.bsky.social for handselling me this gem about the Wolfskinder - German children forced to live on their own as the Russian army pushed across Germany at the close of WWII. Beautifully written and haunting. If you are in Dallas, go to this amazing bookstore.

It really is that simple.

Here’s the thing, if they are picking up folks working in the country illegally, I’m going to need to see some white guys also being arrested for employing people working illegally in the country. Otherwise, it’s just racism.

@katemessner.com's beautifully written story of grief and hope. Finn is a flawed boy, son of a flawed hero, grappling with grief following his father's death. He finds answers - grudgingly - by climbing mountains and writing poetry. He is supported by thoughtful adults and a slobbery dog. #mglit

Abortion bans are a violation of the separation of church and state. So are book bans. So are anti-LGBT laws. So are school vouchers. Notice a pattern?

Open AI’s valuation is at $400 billion. They used about 190,000 books to train their plagiarism bot. Randomly saying 25% of their value comes from that stolen dataset, I think they owe the authors about $526,000 per stolen book.

This #picturebook rocks. @fuse8.bsky.social knows what works in a read aloud, and this one is pitch perfect for a raucous storytime. Makes me ache for a room full of preschoolers to read to right this minute. Funny picture books do not get their due often enough, and this one is hilarious.

@pablocartaya.bsky.social dives into the ways grief can manifest itself through a family. Gonzalo, his abuelo, and his mother are on their separate journeys until the paths combine in a vintage, powder blue Oldsmobile. Layered with Cuban history and fantasy. Really - just a triumph.

Just a reminder to not use AI if you can avoid it. It's sucking up water, especially from impoverished communities. It's destroying the book industry. It's reducing our cognitive ability. #AvoidAI #NoAI

House Republicans passed a bill this morning that fails the people they promised to help. It would raise costs on families across the country, making it harder for them to meet basic needs & weather life’s ups & downs — and give ever larger tax cuts to the wealthiest households.

@rebeccafieldgraphy.bsky.social is making some of the best, freshest, most captivating #picturebook art out there right now. From whimsical to edgy - her illustrations sing. #kidlit #kidlitart
