Thank you to Richard at @interabangbooks.bsky.social for handselling me this gem about the Wolfskinder - German children forced to live on their own as the Russian army pushed across Germany at the close of WWII. Beautifully written and haunting. If you are in Dallas, go to this amazing bookstore.

Here’s the thing, if they are picking up folks working in the country illegally, I’m going to need to see some white guys also being arrested for employing people working illegally in the country. Otherwise, it’s just racism.

Open AI’s valuation is at $400 billion. They used about 190,000 books to train their plagiarism bot. Randomly saying 25% of their value comes from that stolen dataset, I think they owe the authors about $526,000 per stolen book.

This #picturebook rocks. @fuse8.bsky.social knows what works in a read aloud, and this one is pitch perfect for a raucous storytime. Makes me ache for a room full of preschoolers to read to right this minute. Funny picture books do not get their due often enough, and this one is hilarious.
