I'm a biomedical researcher ()sometimes neuroscientist, and even within my community people would prefer for literal neural networks to have *less* mystique and be more reliable. I'm not saying computer NN and bio NN are similar, but I am saying the difference isn't in the reliability of the later.

Yes, I think Iran was the focus before Oct 7th, and Bibi has just been waiting to get back to it.
And, honestly? I can understand the perspective that Iran's *government* (NOT people) are at least a more "worthy" challenge. None of this is OK. But the danger/injustice ratio has shifted.

It's funny because I never find him too centrist or too liberal. A particular episode will usually be of interest because it hits at the sweet spot of "I would like more information about this" and "it won't be too depressing to hear".

HOT take but I'm sick of Democracy Essentialism. Democracy is not "who we are" vs "who THEY are". It's a thing we build, together, to counter those who would usurp power and hoard everything for themselves. It's a process not a product, and it's always imperfect. And it's still a good goal.

I also think it's hogwash. If you were to identify the places most hostile to Jewish students since October 7th, I doubt Northwestern would be on the top 50. But judging by the comments, I think some people believe it.

Hot take but (as Tom Lehrer said) everybody hates the Jews. The people criticizing Israel hate the Jews. The people defending Israel hate the Jews and also want them dead for Jesus to return. It transcends Right/Left.
