but, it's also true that the fog is present in general in trauma, as you say, (esp for kids) so it does make sense for you to be lookign for it here as well

i think especially for those of us who had the covert version, the fog / forgetting / incoherence of the experience is extremely important so it makes sense to me that you would be looking for that

i think or it sounds to me at the very least it sounds like you are having a reaction to it that gives you some information about where your subconscious perceives the risk and danger to be, right? that's super useful imo. i mean, i hope it's valuable and useful <3

I thnk her recollection being so complete or coherent has two factors, one is that she had done a lot of therapy (I can feel my own recollection becoming way more coherent, for example) the other is that her abuse was overt, not covert, which by definition is a more coherent experience

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to say this without sounding like an asshole, but... I don't trust advice that doesn't hurt at least a little bit. Growth hurts. Reality hurts. Facing the truth of how you have fallen short is not a comfortable experience, nor should it be.

Happiness and joy are wonderful things, but ✨pain✨ is Mother Nature's primary teaching tool. You either learn to lean in and embrace this, or cause yourself way more pain and suffering in the long run trying to avoid from the discomfort of growing pains.
