I'm not my ancestors. Some of my ancestors were evil. I won't take credit for what they did right and reject any blame for their evil. You're not your ancestors. Some of them may have been godly. Some of them may have been victims. You're not them.

It is my view that a punctuation should only be inside the quotation marks when the source material contains that same punctuation. If the source material did not include it, then it should be placed outside the quotation marks. I don't care what style conventions are in this matter.

Cohesion implies a unity which adhesion does not. If a label is glued to another surface that is adhesion. If a single substance clings together and resists efforts to separate that is cohesion. People may be united and yet not have unity. That is not cohesion. (Example: USA)

Did you mean "next to last game" because that is what the phrase "penultimate game" means? If you meant "final game" you should have used the word "ultimate".

The fact that they have official codifications of what they believe demonstrates that they do not believe the Bible to be all-sufficient. First century Christians relied on the scriptures and on the doctrines revealed thru apostles and prophets during the first century not on Creeds and Catechisms.

Inspiration is "defined" by 2 Peter 1:20-21. The word translated "interpretation" is NOT referring to the one who reads but rather to the original writers. They did not write down their interpretations of revelation. They were chosen because of their willingness to allow God to speak through them.
comment in response to post
Although I expect that my view of inspiration differs from yours, I do believe that God used the personalities and the cultures of those with whom He worked. Amos, Hosea, Micah, and Isaiah were contemporaries. All the original apostles had grown up in a limited region but Paul in a Roman colony.

First, I am not upset. Second, maybe you did not mean to imply that there are only two worlds when you wrote "There are two worlds within Christianity". You also wrote "there's basically no way to have bridge that divide." I believe that men wrote what God told them to write. 2 Peter 1:20-21

"huge chunk of Christians" is a petitio principii. Not everyone who claims to be a Christian resembles the commended Christians of the first century.

I believe that corruption develops in every human because of the deceitfulness of our cravings. Ephesians 4:22 I believe that all babies are born innocent of guilt but that we all become motivated by our desires and our ego before we are old enough to reason objectively. 1 John 2:16

It is likely possible that there are some religious groups who fit your 2nd description but if you mean it to apply to all who believe that the scriptures are of divine origin that is a gross misrepresentation. Historical, Chronological, and Circumstantial context are all vital to understanding.
comment in response to post
There are churches which teach that God does not communicate with us in that manner today on ANY subject. Homogenizing all religious groups is just as bad as homogenizing individuals who are descended from the same country, culture, or lineage.

My late wife was from Wisconsin. We discovered that pronouncing some of the names of Wisconsin cities attracted the attention of our dog. Waukegon, Waukesha, and Milwaukee are some examples.

Any religion which is false does more harm than good. If God does not exist then any religion which claims God exists is false. If God exists then only that which God approves is true. Neither my belief nor my desire changes reality. I believe Jesus is the Anointed, the Son of the living God.

Many churches are scams that does not mean that all are scams. Many churches teach false doctrine that does not mean that all churches teach false doctrine. Many who claim to be Christians live lives which are immoral that does not mean that all who seek to be Christians are doing so.

In the beginning of 1 Corinthians beginning with 1:17 and continuing into chapter 3, Paul discusses the incompatibility of knowledge which is not dependent on revelation and the knowledge which can only be learned from revelation. The difficulty you referenced is due to men trying to fuse these two

Even though it took longer, I used to use FW for converting PSDs instead of using Adobe's Image Ready because the jpgs were smaller file sizes when exported by FW.
comment in response to post
One of the main reasons FW fizzled under Adobe was they focused on a least important feature. They focused on FW's ability to slice an image and create html code for reassembling. The code was NOT clean. FW shined at editing and exporting Jpgs. Multiple areas of quality of export. (Continued)

Anyone who expects to be "rewarded" in this life is seeking the wrong kind of reward. Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward" three times in Matthew 6. He was not suggesting that this was a good thing.

Jesus will judge me as to whether your charge is true or not.
comment in response to post
"Bible which You read" (by which you meant me) is not the criteria upon which Jesus judges. If I were to suggest that my opinion is the criteria then I would be making the same mistake as those who centuries ago decided that they were the arbitrators of validity for the whole world.
comment in response to post
Your question seems to imply that John 7:24 cannot be implemented. You suggested that I am a hypocrite by quoting Matthew 7:1-5. But you appear to judge me and I would guess sometimes speaks out against things which you do not approve. Or are you never publicly critical of things you disapprove?
comment in response to post
What makes you think that I do not know what the Bible is? You seek to muddy the discussion by suggesting that there is confusion as to which books are legitimate and which are not. Like Jesus, I'm refusing to respond to questions which are obviously intended to be traps.

Just as there was a Joseph Smith, and a Mary Baker Eddy, and a Ellen G. White so also there were writers of false scriptures in ancient times. I have no problem seeing the difference between the biblical text and the "Book of Mormon". Same is true of much older books. But God is the judge not me
comment in response to post
Those who find it difficult to distinguish between the real and the false will indeed find this a difficulty. But God has told us that there are many false teachers and that Satan presents himself as if he were a minister of light.
comment in response to post
I do not determine who is and who is not a Christian. I do know enough to recognize when a religious practice has no basis in the biblical text. I do know enough to be able to distinguish when someone is violating the principle contained in the larger context of 1 Corinthians 2:13.
comment in response to post
God caused the true scriptures. God decided what was scripture and what was not. None of us have any say in the matter. If God decided that a book which is considered "apochryphal" is scripture then it is. If God decided that a book which is considered canonical is not scripture then it is not.

No translation in any language is an inspired translation. The Bible as it was originally revealed is the source of knowing God's will. Nothing which has occurred in the last 19th centuries has amended the scriptures in any way. That includes the so-called "church councils".
comment in response to post
The existence of the Bible is the result of God's will. Claims that it is insufficient are a result of people not being willing to remain within God's will. God has now revealed through His divine power "all things which pertain to life and godliness. (Continued)

There were times when God did not give revelation in ancient times. God indicated in the New Testament that He was going to complete His revelation and that when it was complete that it would be τέλειος. (Continued)

The Bible itself in many places states that we are to not add or subtract, not to go beyond. The Bible also states that God's word was not "interpreted by the prophets who wrote it but that holy men of God were moved along by the Spirit when they wrote. (Continued)

Np. You are wrong about my motives. It is my hope that I can persuade people to give up those religious practices and teachings which have been invented after the Bible was written and ask: "Where does the Bible say we may?" And abide within what was taught in the first century.
comment in response to post
I am not the one who determines who are real Christians only Jesus does that. I hope that I am faithful to Him but I am not justified by my own estimation. God's people do as God teaches without adding, subtracting, or substituting. But internal transformation and trust are also necessary.

God's church is not an organization although the congregations in which Christians meet do have shepherds and deacons. Jesus adds those to His church whom He saves. No human can add anyone to His church nor can any human remove anyone from His church. His church are those who hearken to His voice

They go beyond those things. They add things which the Bible does not authorize. The silence of God's word is the absence of permission.

1 Corinthians 1:27-31 That which is not God's choice does not glorify God.
comment in response to post
What matters is what God's word says God has chosen. 1 Corinthians 1:27-31 Religions which are based on pleasing their members are not glorifying God but glorifying human egos and cravings. God's word empowers humans to approach Him as He chose. The silence of God is the absence of permission.
