Favre and Rodgers are the quintessential examples of why you should never name your dog after a sports hero

In the early 90s, this old, short, slow guy handed me my ass whenever I looked away for a fraction of a second. Turned out he had played for the 1941 Wisconsin team that won the national title

She's hilarious and droll. with that slow Kentucky accent. I saw her 4 years ago and mid-set she said: "I'm SG goodman and I'm contractually required to say my name at least 7 times during each set. I'm not sure if they think I'll forget or you will, but I'm SG goodman and that's three now."

She's a hell of a songwriter and performer. "Work Until I Die" is my annual Labor Day anthem

My wife will bemoan a basket given up in an NBA game, and I'm like, you know each team is going to score another 50 times, so...

I think a lot of people like the horserace stuff, whether it's movies or Oscars or politics or TV ratings... But I think it's so much less interesting than talking about the art and the issues, the substance of it all. (And Mickey 17 is pretty great)

O'Reilly, as they say, is a terrible writer

Right?! Did you stay for Swamp Dogg? He killed it too. Those are a couple of true American originals. I had to include both in my roundup turnuptheamp.com/home/2024/9/...

Being in a packed room of people singing along to The Work Song at Americanafest was somehow cathartic and healing. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that we've got all the fucking work we need www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNWh...

This is rich. An intern could do this: “We got feedback that some other events and countries were missing — and maintaining hundreds of moments manually and consistently globally wasn’t scalable or sustainable,” the spokesperson added.

That seems to have been run through an industrial grade enshittifier

And this was especially egregious. Not just bumping the glove in the moment - hey, that'll happen - but going out of their way to grab and hold and interfere. A real potential for inflicting injury

I've seen those in the wild - I love it!

FWIW, I switched to Tidal a couple years ago when musicians said it paid a little better, and I've liked it. I like the interface better, and you can import Spotify playlists

There's not even a team to root against, with Nebraska (aka, Yankees) and Texas (Dodgers) out. With neither of my teams in it, no stress - just watching some super high level volleyball with 2 fun-as-hell teams

Epic match right there. Pitt was dominant all season, Louisville's star and hometown kid goes down, and the team and freshman replacement rally together (with the help of 10,000 fans) to win anyway. Volleyball is a great sport

If you get to Wisconsin, Shank Hall or Cactus Club in Milwaukee, High Noon Saloon in Madison and the Showboat Saloon in the Wisconsin Dells

It's a good one, isn't it? Happy to see it popping up on a couple 2024 best album lists. You also might like Melissa Carper's latest album, released a couple months later turnuptheamp.com/home/2024/7/...
