The way to beat an Incumbent Democrat is by setting yourself up as the Better Democrat™

This is why I think Vance is gonna immediately eat shit if he ever makes it to the big seat by scheme or providence. He's far too wrapped up in looking smart. There's a desparate air to it. Media was dining on it during campaign, making him answer for Trump's sins cause he'd stammer.

Worse, the entire media basically knows this. They incredibly low standards they display for him are obvious. And yet they rarely highlight this as the disqualifying truth it is.

Yeah. I get that it's pointless to try to throw facts at Trump. Just like I can't win certain arguments by force of logic and rhetoric with my dog. But I don't think my dog should be in charge of nukes and aircraft carriers!

That he's president in spite of this is an indictment of our entire society

Like the dude really is just immune to facts. He does not exist in the world most of us live in, even total assholes like ted cruz

CHAZ was an essentially unprecedented act of Experimental Political Theory and we learned some very clear lessons from it and people absolutely hate them

I think it's very easy to imagine what this antisocial fuck would do with any real or imagined excuse to point a gun and threaten people, and the last thing any protest movement wants is to have ppl like that there to cause catastrophe.

to millers credit he seems genuinely on board with that as a reasonable answer
its a very normie kind of question - annoying but common - and zohran gives a very thoughtful answer, which even the right leaning miller seems to get without any issue
ji meanwhile starts foaming at the mouth

it is so fucking abhorrent to take a clip specifically about how language means wildly different things to different groups and calling for broader understanding, and construe the language of that very statement to make it hateful

I also seem to remember you getting a ton of shit for saying out that no, the Joe Biden administration didn't hate trans people and for pointing to specific measures they had taken to further the cause of trans rights.

I’m just gonna say it. I think a lot of you think making egg cracking harder and scarier is a good thing because it makes the special club more exclusive.

I mean, you see a trans woman you think is inspirational and she’s cursed and spat upon by her own community and called a sellout traitor Nazi who’s basically a man and on some level, you internalize it, you know?

For example: there's things I'd quibble with here (e.g., the numbers), but I'd say this is broadly accurate. I have interacted with trans advocates who literally measure their success by social media metrics; you've likely followed and reskeeted them a bunch.

I'd also go a bit further and say there's some hit dogs hollering here because she does a better job of diagnosing the distorting effects of social media than the average, easily dismissed "social media bad because people call me mayonnaise boy" whinging that we usually get from elites.

I'm not going to sit here and say I agree with everything she said, but that's par for the course when I read this much discourse about politics. As ever, we're much more eager to light up our own over trivial disagreements--ironically, something she discusses cogently in this interview.

As is often the case with huge blocks of text that take ages to read, people are putting out ChatGPT-level hallucinations of what McBride actually said in the interview. She is not "victim-blaming the trans community for our predicament" nor "ignoring the hate machine directed at us."
