OK i’ve seen almost no media outlet pick up on the fact the Supreme Court ruling endorsed conversion therapy and opens a portal to the normalization of conversion therapy nationally so here’s a thread explaining how they did so, and why you should care (1/x)

This is an important distinction and it isn't theoretical. Trans kids are decompensating in places where care has been restricted or bans have been enacted. ERs and higher levels of care are seeing numbers of trans youth far in excess of normal. Crisis lines are slammed. Therapy waitlists are full.

there’s a mode of transfemininity—which i’m in—in which you change nothing about your ‘gender’ per se except to lean further into masc presentation and end up being perceived by much of the world as a very pretty boy except, the thing is, YOU NEED THE FUCKING MEDICAL CARE TO FEEL RIGHT IN YOUR BODY

Trans youth rights are under attack. If you or someone you know needs support, here are trusted resources ready to help.

This framing is beneath contempt. The Christian right and MAGA launched an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of a tiny minority and successfully weaponized the pseudoliberal establishment - led by the NYT - to provide it with a medical controversy pretext that doesn’t actually exist.

this is an old thread but some folks are still finding it and in light of the stuff with the Trevor Project and the supreme court ruling maybe it's worth reposting just in case anybody is looking for some concrete stuff that's definitely helped me hang in there during really hard moments

CLARIFICATION : The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline. They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY So spread this around They can be texted. They can be called.

Jules Gill-Peterson isn’t mincing words: Forget euphemisms like “gender euphoria.” “We need hormones, sex changes, and surgeries.” Not affirmation—access.

no community worth having will demand your sexuality as an entrance fee and i think that's worth reminding yourself of from time to time

As a four-decade veteran of the daily journalism business, let me tell you: Every competent political reporter in this country knows that Trump is trying to establish a dictatorship. The industry's shame is that so few journalists will say so, and the ones who do lose their jobs.

you must accept the fact that the vast majority of people who are against Trump in this country will look at you like you have two heads if you start pontificating on the leftist versus liberal distinction at them

It's weird to see posts from people protesting in LA and their left wing supporters touting wins like forcing ICE out of hotels and then see posts from liberals very upset that they saw a Mexican flag at the protests.

Ryan Sanchez’s buddy and fellow Nationalist Network member Greyson Arnold is threatening to be at the July 14th No Kings march in Seattle. Just like Ryan in LA, I assume Greyson will be trying aggravate and film people and generally make provocative content for their nazi propaganda.

I think more of the “it’s a distraction” people need to actually get out and protest. Because, there you are, a crowd of people, and NOBODY has the same sign, and there’s NINETEEN separate chants and which one is the “real issue” and who “messages” and… AND YOU’RE ALL THERE TOGETHER.

if the MSNBC report is right about tactical ICE teams heading to Seattle, all our the local immigrant communities -- not just Latinx -- need to be on the lookout for this kind of thing too 👇

if you hate the idea of a multi-city ICE kidnapping operation & see your congressperson's name on the list of dems who “expressed gratitude" for this shit & pledged to collaborate more with ICE, you should call them & tell them they’re carrying water for nazis. bare minimum you can do.🧵 reps.fyi

You have no obligation to defend or explain the behavior of random street protesters. We have a lawless government that is flagrantly violating its legal, moral, even philosophical obligations to us. Everything else is secondary

As someone who lives in Los Angeles, don’t let social or mainstream media gaslight you into thinking there’s a violent uprising taking place here. The Trump administration is trying to punish this state and this city. He’s also setting a precedent to unleash troops on Democratic cities.

This happened during the first administration when it was saying Seattle was a war zone but I was in Seattle at the time and the most chaotic thing was a barista couldn’t get my name right on my Starbucks cup.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

boosting would be a lot cooler if you did too

Just yesterday, a new study was released showing that protected bike lanes attract 4.3 times as many riders, improve health and safety, and reduce fuel consumption. But no, we can't slow down drivers! lloydalter.substack.com/p/protected-...

Remembering Chevalière d'Éon for Pride. A transgender woman in the 1700s who was also a spy and who turned double agent, extorted an entire monarchy to get her gender marker changed, and lived her life as a woman in a time when such was thought impossible. We have always been here.
