Long ol' day for you then... I trust all had gone reasonably well from most points of view.

In 2019 we carried out computer modelling and then dynamic train testing, which showed that forces would be manageable at 110mph, but marginally non compliant at 125mph. Ever since, electric trains have been limited to 110. The new testing is to see whether that restriction can be lifted.

Hi, Steventon Bridge expert here 👋 when permission for demolition of the bridge was refused, it left NR with a dilemma. Stocks Lane level crossing is only 400m away, and the contact wire grading between the two features would be too steep for line speed of 125mph, limiting electric trains to 60mph.

I like your terminology, Mitch!

I don't believe it can be. I think it'll be very close to where the photographer in your post was situated, where no.12 facing crossover is, beyond which further points lead into SMD Departure & Holding Roads. The junction even has a Trackernet code, I see, SDJ.

Also — I've been struggling to find definitive proof of the location of "Stratford Market Junction", on the current Jubilee Line. It is referred to in the Working Timetable, but without any indication anywhere else as to what is meant!

Crikey, almost a couple of decades ago, I drove trains under that bridge *a lot*...! Fascinating to see how it once looked.

Oh, very good. Hadn't thought of that. This perfectly explains why the hardware for facilitating the traction current return path is broadly similar but no longer needs the impedance bond itself. Yes, the whole Staines area did get re-signalled in the last few years.

Egham is now an axle counter detection area.

Ah, superb stuff! I visited this area 21 years ago during Open House weekend:

Hah! Uxbridge looks "the same but different" now, with Harman House a giant mirror-windowed [and now largely empty!] office-building to top left, and nary a tree in sight.

A beautiful clean scan too!

Mine is an S stock cab driving position as seen from the windscreen. I was on a union Zoom call the other day, fresh home from work and still in full uniform, and quite innocently it caused quite a stir...

Do you have any specific recommendations for UPS kit, or providers thereof? Prob just looking for something to power Fibre box and Router really...

Only, their party is currently being slightly spoiled by this BAW A380, making the 17-minute flight from Gatwick to Heathrow. Heck of a way to beat the M23/M25 rush-hour!

Can't hear "Eltham Well Hall" without thinking of the crash there.

The #EastWestDEMU will also come (presumably *tearing*!) through here next month — Verney Junction, the furthest outpost of the Metropolitan Railway. Seen by me & my camera 20 summers ago.

The levels of nonchalance on the part of whoever let members of the press stand on live track...

Crikey that's what we need on the S stock at Farringdon and Baker Street!
