Can Stealing from Wizards ride the coattails of reinvigorated wizard school fantasy interest coinciding with the final book in the series coming out? What portion of the proceeds should I set aside to assist the therapy bills for the child actors who will be ruined by the spotlight?

Just got forwarded this glowing review... from four years ago. Well, thanks for the praise, anyway! I hope you liked the subsequent books.

The joys of self-publishing. The manuscript is written which means I need to schedule editors, do edits, promotion, formatting, blurbs, and also my day job all at the same time. Wheeeeeee!

Arson release date announcement! Fires start November 1st. Preorder the ebook now: www.amazon.com/dp/B0F9R2M684

This is such an obvious perspective that I'm shocked I never thought of it this way. How much of the gatekeeping around nerdery is about "preserving the masculinity" of the hobby? How much is about the fear of the horrifying taint of femininity chipping away at fragile self image as a "real man?"

Gods I wish I had fewer cautionary tales available.

I nearly died of shame when someone found that I used "sole" instead of "soul" and it made it into print. This? The depths of disinterest in your own artistic work required to produce this is staggering.

I worry much about the engineers I teach. All the incentives are towards profit and productivity. If they could turn their brilliance towards helping the world it would be a far better place. So many, though, are trained to be cogs in the machine and are agnostic about what that machine does.

This is worth listening to as it shows both reasonable insight into what AI could be used for in education: tailored lesson delivery. Also misses a major component of education: the most important thing kids are learning isn't conjugating verbs. 🧵

Least pleasant part of writing a book: the blurb. My skill is novel length prose, not marketing copy. If I was good at writing short stuff I'd have a following here. Ugh.

It’s World Bee Day so of course I had to work on this for my morning coffee shop pencil sketch. #wip #worldbeeday #sciart

Do other authors get asked "How do you come up with your ideas?" all the time, too? I get it constantly and I have no idea how to answer. It sounds like they want deep and meaningful insight, but my brain just vomits up fairy stories when left unsupervised. Is that what they want to hear?

Spending a happy long weekend stitching together an Expedition 33 uniform.

The orangutans and bonobos are the first two illustrations of a series on behavior and movement of animals in their environment. #SciArt More coming soon! :) For @mpi-animalbehav.bsky.social
