Great example. Passive responsibility is a real thing and it applies in law too. An oppressor is not just ruining shit for their target but for anyone who has an opportunity to intervene and is ethically inclined to do so.

My laptop has been warming me about very high pollen count for last 2 days - based in Liverpool, UK though, so, you know, YMMV

You can't leave us hanging now @scott.hanselman.com You are now providing a public service and it must be concluded with a review demonstrating your disappointing expectations being realised. I'm sure we'd be able to crowdfund the costs 🤓

Ugh... every time I read or hear "common sense" I immediately, instinctively disregard the entire argument. Shame I had to read all of that nonsense before I encountered the bigot bomb

Well as my dad always said ‘ if someone is scared of becoming a minority , it’s because they know how badly they treat minorities ‘

Huh, surprised I could even find anything on the issue www.bbc.com/news/stories...

It's not surprising if you can recall the BBC was found to have been screening candidates against left-wing associations at least until the 90s. The whole thing has been built from the ground up to reinforce English political hegemony. With the best will in the world that would be hard to unpick

As a 53 year old white male I feel I should apologise for his actions and accept tightened regulations on my daily life until we integrate sufficiently... Yeah. Sounds ridiculous? That's also how it sounds when said about other "groupings".

Paul Parker said the Quakers would “welcome and affirm trans and non-binary people in Quaker spaces”, adding: “We must respect the dignity of each person to live with integrity, informed by the truth of their lived experience”.

English democracy: You can have any party you want as long as it's politically entrenched
comment in response to post
Aye it completely misses the point of busting the two party system - the outcome is a different political approach, not just more of the same. The problem is not the number of parties. Very disappointing from Georgie.

My wife was let go from a company recently for exactly this justification. Making profit, but not quite as much as planned and 'well... we're a 'growth' company so we need to find some growth from somewhere'. Human sacrifice for the capital god

OMFG. Every hyphen I introduce with whitespace is automatically replaced by Microsoft Word with an em dash and always has been, I have no idea how to stop it.

What would help? – Keyboard shortcuts (j/k) to jump between posts – Landmarks or headings for screen reader nav – Restore focus or scroll position after interaction Reddit had it. Twitter *STILL* has it. This is basic UX for screen reader users. Let’s make Bluesky usable, not just compliant. #A11y

It's also a nasty form of envy... results from seeing yourself as more deserving. Ironically the people who worry about the less well off having a nice TV are usually the ones to throw the 'politics of envy' trope about. Insufferable

Crap, I didn't realise that I'm playing to such a stereotype that it's a meme - kids are often telling me to sit down when I get distracted by the telly 🤣
