We will continue to uplift students' voices and put pressure on leaders to do everything in their power to protect our collective right to free speech and protest.

While their immigration statuses may still be in jeopardy, the release of Khan Suri and others is still a step in the right direction — made possible by the rule of law and widespread outcry from everyday people across the country.
comment in response to post
Khan Suri — along with Rümeysa Öztürk of Massachusetts and Mohsen Mahdawi of New York — is the latest person to be freed from ICE detention after being targeted by the Trump regime's unconstitutional crackdown on pro-Palestinian protests and free speech at colleges and universities.

Read @ncapa.bsky.social's new report about the real-world impacts of Trump’s policies with insights from 40+ community organizations, including data on acts of anti-AA/PI hate from us at Stop AAPI Hate. ncapaonline.org/100dayreview/

We are sending strength to Professor Maehara as he recovers from his injuries. And remain as committed as ever to speak out against racism and xenophobia — no matter who tries to silence us.

This was not an isolated attack. Other recent reports to Stop AAPI Hate also show that Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda is fueling acts of anti-AA/PI hate. At a time when AA/PI communities are facing near-constant attacks, it’s critical that we keep showing up for one another.

Aki Maehara, a 71-year-old Japanese American and a Professor of Asian American History, suffered serious injuries after being struck by a racist driver while biking home in Montebello, CA. The driver shouted racial slurs and told him to “go back” before running him over and fleeing the scene.

Here’s a way you can support the fight to protect birthright citizenship right now: Write to Congress to show support for the Born in the USA Act. If passed, it can stop Trump’s EO from taking effect, no matter what SCOTUS decides. Learn more: stopaapihate.org/stop-attacks-on-birthright-citizenship

This is a fight for the future of our families, our children, and our democracy. We all need to demand that Congress protect birthright citizenship by supporting the Born in the USA Act. Contact your representatives now before it’s too late: stopaapihate.org/stop-attacks...

Any day now, the Supreme Court will decide whether Trump's executive order on birthright citizenship can be implemented or remain paused. The Born in the USA Act would block Trump from using federal funds to carry out his cruel plans, regardless of what SCOTUS rules.

We won't let lawmakers scare us into silence: Immigrants have and will continue to make the U.S. their home. We stand in solidarity with advocates on the ground in Texas and nationwide who continue to work tirelessly to stop bills like SB 17 and protect the rights of our communities.

If you're a Texas resident, contact your state representatives and urge them to withdraw their support or continue to vote "NO" on SB 17. Learn more: www.instagram.com/texasasiande...

While the Texas House of Representatives voted to pass SB 17, the fight isn't over yet. While the bill moves through the legislature, hundreds of Texans continue to speak out against the harmful impacts it will have on their immigrant neighbors. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-hk...

SB 17 mirrors the anti-immigrant land laws that targeted Asian families in the early 20th century. And it’s a part of a broader wave of anti-immigrant legislation that could fuel racism and xenophobia nationwide. stopaapihate.org/2024/10/29/land-bans-a-looming-threat-to-aa-pi-immigrant-communities/

But we at Stop AAPI Hate are more determined than ever to keep fighting for AAPI and other marginalized communities – and ask you, our supporters, to continue standing with us in resistance.

It also fits squarely within their broader agenda to make America a country where whiteness and wealth determine who belongs, who is protected, and who has opportunities to thrive.

Let’s be clear: This isn’t about budgets or performance. By slashing resources from nonprofits that build safety for marginalized communities, the Trump regime is sending a clear — and profoundly un-American — message: that justice, safety, and dignity are not meant for all of us.

Earlier this month, the Department of Justice abruptly canceled $811 million in grants allocated to 365 of community organizations that work to prevent hate acts, improve public safety, and support victims – including us at Stop AAPI Hate, and other Asian American nonprofits.

We can't afford to lose another life to ICE’s cruelty and indifference. As the Trump administration disappears more and more immigrants into detention facilities, conditions will only worsen. We must keep fighting back against Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda to end this cycle of preventable deaths.

Among the fatalities is Nhơn Ngọc Nguyễn, a Vietnamese refugee who suffered from dementia. His family — who were unable to locate him for weeks after he was disappeared by ICE — says he died from medical neglect, alone in ICE custody & unaware of his whereabouts. www.democracynow.org/2025/5/2/hea...
comment in response to post
According to a @detentionwatchnetwork.org report, these horrific deaths are linked to ICE’s long and well-documented history of substandard medical care and neglect, unsafe and unhygienic facilities, and physical abuse. www.detentionwatchnetwork.org/pressroom/re...

These families deserve to know where their loved ones are and if they’re safe. We must take action to give them answers. Tell Congress to demand Trump release and return the 60+ Bhutanese refugees kidnapped and disappeared by ICE: stopaapihate.org/justice-for-...

In honor of May Day, we stand with AFT and advocates from across the country who are fighting for a future where every family — no matter who they are or where they come from — can live, work, and learn in the U.S. without fear. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddQP...

No President, not even Trump, gets to pick and choose what laws they want to obey. Under Trump's cruel, anti-immigrant agenda, Abrego Garcia and countless others have been wrongfully taken away from their families — with complete disregard for due process or their humanity.

The vast majority of Asian Americans are descended from immigrants, and there is a growing population of Pacific Islander immigrants in the U.S. Many of our families faced racism, discrimination, and the challenge of building a new life in an unfamiliar place.

Our new report confirms what many have long suspected: People of color face many dangers under Trump’s leadership. But there’s hope: 65% of AA/PI adults say they are extremely or very likely to take action to combat hate and discrimination in 2025.
