More than likely I ID'd them wrong. Thanks for the info! I may be seeing creeping buttercup rather than cinquefoil.

I love Cinquefoil. Whenever I see a little yellow flower in a lot/yard, I do a little bob and weave to see if its shiny ✨ 😅 Are the Sulphur petals shiny as well? I'm not sure of the species I see in Houston. Will try to find out.

Nice! Guessing you're in west Texas w/ the Claret Cups and Hedgehogs - so cool to see them in flower in habitat!

From a fellow Texan, 'In Texas' is saying a lot 😅 Nice find! I'm assuming they're a Sedum species, possibly native. Have you checked out iNaturalist? Cool platform for posting and searching local native flora and fauna and confirming IDs.

Also need to be cautious about any topical treatment when it's hot out. My favorite predators are lacewing larvae - second best is ladybug larvae. Nurseries sell them sometimes and you can order them as well.

Welcome! You can try spraying w/ rubbing alcohol and rinsing well after letting it sit for several minutes. You have to be careful not to expose to full sun during the treatment because the alcohol can remove the protective coating on succulents...

Yep! And they're red which the hummers love the most.

Nice! Maybe screen them off and put out some extra for the cats. They're not picky. You can just move them to the new cuisine 🙏

I also try to catch predatory bugs and put them on my plants. I managed to catch a whirligig mite the other day and put it on this plant. I'll move the plant away from others and hope the rain and predators help.

I think diligence is more important than the method. If it's really bad, I use a systemic but make sure no flowers are allowed to bloom that might affect pollinators. I really rarely do more than just hose the heck out of the plant every other day or so and/or manually remove the pests I can see.

I can see that! Like coral tube worms!

Thank you for the reply! And not that it needs to smell good too, it's already so lovely lol! No pressure 😅
It's something I ask about cacti flowers often - slowly trying to make #cactusflowerfragrancereport report a thing.

Definitely a side effect of mealybug damage but honestly, I'm really not mad. I have plenty more that are pest-free and it's interesting to see the mutation and to know how it happened. 2/2

Ugh I love this so much! The color! The size!! Is it fragrant?

I'm currently listening to a Common Nighthawk flying around as they do this time of year. It has a steady, pensive call as it flits around much like a big bat. It flies up really high and dives down, making a sound called 'booming.' It sounds like a cartoon airplane diving down - a fast 'BRRrrr'

Gasteria flowers remind me of flamingos 🦩 Great shots of them!
