I'm not sure I agree with everything you say, but "I think the actions in Israel are materially worse than elsewhere" is at least some thought on why you're focused on Israel, though the focus on Israel is still suspect. How unimportant do you rate the return of Sudanese genocide?

Really, did you even read what I wrote? Calling me "pathetic" for...[re-reading my comments] saying I think Jews have a special obligation to call out Israel when [re-reading your comment] that's what you want me to do? Fuck off, jerk.
comment in response to
post
I'm not doing that. I condemn Israel's actions. As a Jew, I feel I have a special obligation to focus on bad actions by Israel. For the non-Jews out there, why are you focused on Israel specifically, but not ethnic cleansing and genocide all over the world?
comment in response to
post
Weird response, since that's exactly my point and yet you seem to be attacking me. I literally said I condemn this genocide. As a Jewish person, it makes sense that I'm especially concerned about Israel's actions. For non-Jews, why are they so concerned about Israel but not other genocides?

So, why are you focused on Israel and not other regimes engaged in ethnic cleansing and similarly heinous behavior? Maybe, like me, you also have good reasons why you are focused on Israel. Or maybe not.
comment in response to

But when a non Jewish person challenges Israel while not recognizing other genocides, it makes me wonder why another abusive state doesn't bother them as much as Israel does. I'm focused on Israel BECAUSE *I* am Jewish. For many, they are focused on Israel because Israel is Jewish.

I know, better than you most likely, that anti-zionism is not anti-semitism. As a Jewish person who opposes Israel's actions, I feel an obligation to question those actions.

To be clear, military intervention to save Gaza is a reasonable position. But the fact that people care about this one and not others is rooted in either anti-black racism (don't care about Africa) or anti-Semitism.

To be clear, though, only THIS genocide but not other genocides worldwide?

Why didn't you call this out publicly then? According to your rationale, your failure to call this out then makes you an inappropriate person to deliver any of these messages.

So who can tell this story? A journalist who did report on Biden's condition? Who is that? Or do you have a non-journalist you propose should do this journalism? (I hate the Tapper book tour, too, but your points make no sense.)
comment in response to
post
Wait, hold on. There are plenty of reasons to criticize Tapper's book and its promotion, but this is the first time I've seen somebody assert that the claims of the book are false. Maybe I'm out of the loop. Is there evidence to back that up?

I meant to say Bailey would become the backup. Barnes is nearly average from both sides (which was a surprise) with more power against lefties. So why play Bailey except to rest Barnes? Most teams don't platoon catchers becuase it's not great for the pitchers.
comment in response to
post
Taylor is also possibly better than the current backup MIs
comment in response to
post
Considering that Barnes's career numbers against righties are about the same as Bailey's, and they are probably equivalent defensively, that would mean Barnes largely becomes the backup to give the pitchers consistency. Not a great long term plan, but probably would make them better this year.

Exactly. You can show CURRENT pics of Bruce to make this point and it's much more persuasive.

you seem cockier after the internet largely (and rightly) took your side last week. I guess you've earned it, but I like the other approach better.

They need Koss (or Schmidt, who is rehabbing at Sac). Otherwise they don't have a backup middle infielder.

not that I disagree with the comparison on generally, but that's not a recent picture of Bruce.

The problem is SO MANY Americans suffer largely the same personality disorders as Trump. Becuase cluster B tends to be passed down by biology and behavior-- i.e., it's much easier to make more cluster B folks in the next generation than it is to winnow it back--we only get worse from here.

I was there yesterday (but with my kids for youth baseball/softball day so didn't totally get to watch). The pitches don't seem to have a lot of snap to them. The fastballs have the effect of sort of floating up in the zone. I assume that's what happens to your stuff when you get old

Don't forget the people who squirmed while being kidnapped, thus making impact with the ICE agents, which like the police, ICE presumably treats as a violent assault.
