Having a bit of a hard time with the concept that if a guy in a police uniform who has a police vehicle shows up I should lock the doors and call 911, but if a guy in a ski mask with an hGH gut appears to be kidnapping my neighbor, I shouldn’t ask who he is if I don’t want federal charges.

Masked ICE agents violently arrested New York City comptroller and a Democratic mayoral candidate @bradlander.bsky.social on Tuesday as he was escorting a man out of immigration court.

#NoKings protest at Los Angeles City Hall

Lots of people out in Providence RI today. #NoKings

I hosted The Gossip at my mom’s house when they played Asbury Park cause I was friends with her roadie. I watched Beth Dido draw her eyebrows on with a sharpie in my bathroom while she told stories from tour.

Say what you will about Staten Island, but you don’t see this in Brooklyn 🦃

Today's Skills for a Just Society post features some lessons on Restorative Justice Leadership from NYC Educators that apply to EVERYONE! Including YOU! Take a look and let me know what you're taking away from these stories. open.substack.com/pub/suzanneh...

Happy Internarional Worker’s Day AND birthday to my sweet dog, Trish. What a day! 🌺 💪🏿 💪🏽💪🏻 🌺

The world is so big fam. The progressive work is gestating and flourishing in ways we can’t even see yet.

My dog has a best friend and I thought you’d like to know.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

People who know me for 10 minutes have heard me say for DECADES now that there is no way forward that doesn't involve community-building. And some folks have been furious at me for pointing out the necessity of transformative justice. But here we are... both things are still true. THE END.

Something I don’t think gets said a lot is that Restorative and Transformative Justice work is a kind of organizing. It requires an organizer’s spirit and persistence to take hold in a place. It’s extending a constant invitation to join and take part.

Excited to be “facilitator 2” on this call tonight. Join us in f you want to get your anti-fascist wiggles out by taking collective action in community! mobilize.us/s/dIyvlr/a

New post on the ‘stack with 2 NYC-based invitations re: Building Solidarity Beyond Crisis! (One is THIS FRIDAY in the Bronx!) open.substack.com/pub/suzanneh...

One of the most clarifying things I've seen in the past few weeks is "de-escalate all conflict that is not with the enemy."

Nice low risk prompt to break the ice! 😆

financial advice in a weird time: -- develop a plan -- find friends who support you -- preferably 10 of them -- steal $160 million from the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand -- yes those are Terry Benedict's casinos -- get your wife back -- one of the friends should be Don Cheadle btw simple

If you suffered in life and want other people to suffer as you did because "you turned out fine," you did not in fact turn out fine.

Are you a NYC resident? Do you care about our public libraries? If yes, please sign up to testify in person or via Zoom for this Tuesday's hearing of NYC's Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Intergroup Relations. council.nyc.gov/testify/ - hearing is at 10am

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

This is a time when we need conveners more than ever. It's difficult and thankless work but boy do we need you right now. If you are good at gathering people, your skills and energies are needed.

Relationships and collective action are the antidote to what you’re feeling and the path forward.

If you're in NYC:

fall back, spring forward. now slide to the left, now slide to the right

Honestly wish there was just one more hour in the day.

remember this can be one day or day one - do what you can!
