Troll behavior. They’re extremely invested in why no effort could possibly work & scaring people out of doing anything. I wound up blocking.

Heads up, pretty sure k9hikesaz is a troll/plant. On the surface they appear to support boycotts and peaceful protests, but every single time they comment on someone else’s posts it’s to discourage any effort and/or fear monger with the worst and scariest possibilities. I’d suggest blocking them.

1.) 40% of Americans have changed their spending habits as a form of protest since the inauguration.
2.) We don’t know who was boycotting and who might have spent extra to spite the boycott that day.
3.) One small action being ineffective doesn’t mean there’s no point in trying anything ever again.

Then it sounds like you could also benefit from mutual aid. You don’t have to contribute $$. Time, skillshares, kindness, and sharing ideas are all part of it. It seems like you’re not enjoying this conversation, so I’ll back off - but please consider at least not actively discouraging any efforts.

Hahaha good luck to you too! We will all need it! But in all seriousness if you want to do *something* without risking being fired you could still support through mutual aid and building that community support network :) We all have different risk tolerances but it’s not all or nothing.

Fascism took hold in Germany in the first place because the people ALLOWED it to. We cannot allow it. The truth is that some of us need to be willing to risk getting fired to get this moving - which is why OP is talking about building community resources FIRST.

I understand. You’re not understanding what I’m saying. EVERYONE strikes, or at least a massive portion of the population. It’s not about whether they have the legal right to fire us. It’s about their entire workforce walking out at once. Including the bosses. Think *big*.

Not with that attitude! The idea of a general strike is that SO MANY people strike that they can’t fire all of us.

Can you please tell me where this “official” count is coming from? Trying to find sources to link people to who are skeptical. Thank you!

Hi everybody!
Share this news. Here on BlueSky & beyond. Send it to your friends and family, post about it on other platforms.
I’m googling & searching insta, and I don’t see anything about it that isn’t from far right leaning platforms.
Spread. The. News.

I think it’s coming from the money that Musk commandeered and literally locked congress out of ;)

Other way round. Trump is the face, the puppet - he will take the fall.
Elon, world’s richest man, who is actively working to install far right regimes all over the world, will make a swift exit with his newly coded “back door” to the treasury intact.
He’ll rob us & leave us with Vance or worse

The impulse to soothe, reassure, or even… what even is this one, a correction?… comes from a good place but can be extremely unhelpful.
It encourages freeze response & learned helplessness.
We need to figure out a new way to support each other besides trying to calm each other down.

I feel similarly about calling Trump a clown - it’s an insult to actual clowns lmao

I think there are a bunch of people who think telling people how to say things is activism. We have to not be so damned precious about the exact words and just start loudly agreeing with each other. Yes - and. Less theatre criticism, more movement building,

Remember, we’re not all seeing the same news as each other.
That’s why you feel crazy - we’re all so divided on what’s happening and what’s real.
If you feel like you can, don’t just document - distribute. Print it out & leave it somewhere. Pin it to a noticeboard. Leave it at the library. Etc.

An excerpt from a book written by an ordinary German citizen about the rise of Nazism.
One of they biggest factors was *uncertainty,* and not wanting to look crazy.
We need to be certain. Insist on talking about it. Cite sources. Document everything. Print them out and distribute them, even.

Please do share these resources. I signed up, encouraged others to sign up, and then once I saw that kind of post I got really scared. Poked around to look at some of your partners & I don’t see any of them posting about the GS. This is a genuine inquiry - how do we know you’re legit?

i think also the primacy of national politics in political discourse has maybe led people to forget that governance is very decentralized and the federal government does not control the states and has limited enforcement power over them
