So wholesome, I love it 🤗💙 Another video from Compton High School's graduation day (6/5/25). Vice President Harris went inside to personally encourage students and teachers to keep striving.

"....A way of saying, we were here—not for profit, not for politics, but for people. And now that witness is fading. Quietly. Without scandal. Without trial. Trust has a half-life. It decays when unreturned. It doesn’t scream when it dies. It just stops showing up." substack.com/home/post/p-...

“We’re under attack by a bunch of people who’ve never had dirt underneath their fingernails. People who have never swung a tool. People who know as much about the meaning of public service as they do about who’s in their Signal group chat.” Sam Forstag - USFS Smokejumper

Musk's DOGE goons physically dragged a high-ranking Social Security executive from his desk for not going along with their plan to list more than 6,000 migrants as dead despite being alive. www.thedailybeast.com/doge-goons-p...

Lando's leadership of Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back turned out to be a tragically prescient parable for our time. Leaders of institutions: Pay attention! A story in four parts. cc: Paul Weiss, Columbia University bcc: all law firms, universities, and civil society organizations

Re: Paul, Weiss; Attorneys at law.

“Sources within the Regional Office who spoke with Lee Newspapers all did so on the condition they not be named, citing fear of retaliation for discussing the retirements with the news media. Some of them characterized Marten’s departure as a forced retirement, rather than a voluntary decision.”

“If we enforce the law they might keep breaking it” is a hell of an argument for a fed judge to make.

NEWS: After an emergency meeting of Indivisible groups across the country, Indivisible is officially calling on Senate Minority Leader Schumer to step down from his leadership position. indivisible.org/statements/i...

Is it too much to ask for an opposition party that actually opposes things? Schumer need to go.

I’m calling for new leadership in the Democratic Party. So many democrats want to do the right thing, but leadership is stopping them with the unspoken threat of refusing to give them leadership positions down the road. NEW DEM LEADERSHIP NOW!! #NewDemLeadership

In every clip I've heard from Republicans being interviewed by the media, they just think Elon and DOGE are just GREAT!!!! They are cutting "waste, fraud and abuse", the "fat", "saving taxpayers money" etc. What they refuse to acknowledge and what makes them complicit in Trump/Musk's evil is:

Please start using the term “unlawfully RIF’ed” just as we used the term “unlawfully terminated”. RIFs *can* be used in a legitimate way, which requires: -30 days notice at a MINIMUM -Reassignments -Veterans have retention preference -Notification of state governments This ain’t it.

"Forest Service braces for up to 7,000 more layoffs, w/ a heavy toll on scientific research that supports healthier forests — more than double the number terminated in recent firings of probationary employees...'We are sheep headed to slaughter,' one employee said." 🌏 www.eenews.net/articles/for...

I think that the retention of federal lands under public management is one of the best things America ever did. It would be indescribably horrible to sell it off. But Trump is a real estate guy, so this threat to our shared heritage feels very plausible. www.americanprogress.org/article/trum...

A number of federal agencies, from HHS to the USDA, have laid off employees only to rescind those terminations days later. An expert says it "suggests something about mismanagement of government."

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 1%, it can collect $13. For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 0.1%, it can collect $26. Laying off 7,000 IRS employees (during tax season) isn't about efficiency. It's about making it easier for the rich to evade taxes.

“[H]ow does it not benefit the public interest to have clean bathrooms? How does it not benefit the public interest to have safe and clear trails. I was doing those things at a high level. And that’s on top of the collateral fire duties with the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service.”

IMTs are quietly talking about what the current political environment means for this year's wildland fire suppression efforts, but it deserves a larger and more public consideration. 1/

Flow is a cool movie. Beautiful escapist entertainment.

Here is the oath all executive branch employees take. It is to support and defend the Constitution, not to “implement the president’s agenda.” If the two purposes diverge, the Constitution prevails.

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

Our military will soon be asked to make a very stark choice. There will be mass unrest in this country as these disastrous changes take effect. Trump will invoke the insurrection act at some point. You will be ordered to inflict violence on your fellow citizens. Think through this before it happens.
