I’ve always been a bit of a videophile, but HDR just adds nothing for me.

I’m not so sure that a 24-player race is an improvement.

I picked up The Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzo on a whim at a local bookstore, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

I will forever lament the loss of so much beauty from 2nd Impact to 3rd Strike. 3S may be the better game, but it’s just nowhere near as nice-looking as 2I was. And why would they just go and remove widescreen support like that?

The last handheld system that really felt good to use was the DS Lite. Strangely enough, it was also the first.

I don’t want a portable system to play in handheld mode. I hate handheld systems. I just like that I can move them around from TV to TV in my house. That said, I love that there are actual contoured grips on this new Xbox handheld.

If a classic game sees rerelease without save states, it’s a failure, no matter how great the game or conversion is otherwise. Like it or not, freely available emulators are competition, and if an emulated version sold at any price can’t do what the free option can do, that’s a failure.

Streaming this DOS adventure game using Sierra's old adventure enging called Tonight the Shrieking Corpses Bleed which is pretty cool so far twitch.tv/RetrogradeTom

When I realized that I wanted to just stay in Link mode the whole time, it became clear that it was time to call it quits with Echoes of Wisdom. It’s disappointing, but I think all the Zelda games I’ll ever love might be in the past.

I got Cyberpunk for XSX for $5, but I haven’t played it because I got Echoes of Wisdom from the library, which I abandoned in favor of a Zero play-through of Mega Man x4 … and then promptly moved on to Mega Man Legends. I just can’t get enough of these classic games on Mister.

It’s not just GameStop’s fault; it’s Nintendo’s. Is this the first time they’ve ever packaged a gaming console? Or even a gaming console with a screen?

Final Fantasy Tactics is worth $50. Those tchotchkes are not worth $200.

Is Mario Kart World the only Switch 2 exclusive at launch?

but if i'm not allowed to feed artists into my artist killing machine it's going to be basically impossible for the machine to keep killing artists. is that what you want?? and before you answer keep in mind this is a very expensive machine

Sometimes, playing on original hardware is less than ideal. This is the only game I’ve heard the disc seek noises with, but I think it’s time to move over to emulation. It’ll just be more convenient, which is kind of sad.

Writer Lesson: Never allow a publisher to put an "option on future works" clause in a contract unless they pay you money for it. Even if it is just a "First Look" option. If you don't enjoy working with that publisher, they can maliciously use that against you when moving to a different house.

The only way to get a complete roster for a modern fighting game is for the game to die. Not cool, man.

Interesting. 6 years? 1-2 fighters, you say? Count me in!

@sega-west.bsky.social Please follow @capcomusa.com ‘s lead and patch out Games for Windows Live from your older titles. I got fatal errors on Virtua Tennis 4 when I tried to reinstall and play the other day.

we desperately need fans to: A. know that AI localization will absolutely ruin their favorite manga, anime, games, and books B. fan outrage over AI use is one of the best and only ways we can fight back. most loc professionals are freelance. we're not union. we have no power. Fans must speak up.

I propose the term “D-board” controller instead of “leverless”. That’s D as in directional, like D-pad.

Does anyone actually see $90 of value in plastic tchotchkes and digital wallpaper? It’s not just Dragon Quest; it’s almost every CE. It’s junk. The game is $60. Buy a second copy of the game for someone as a gift or as a donation to your library. Spread love of the game rather than buying junk.
