Two large GSDs that I have been working with were adopted this weekend. They went to experienced owners, and I feel pretty good about these placements. #dogs #shelterdogs #gsd

She's willing to go outside, provided that we bring the air conditioning with us. #dogs #corgi

Our Malinois was adopted. Her new owner is sn experienced with GSDs, and I spent a good amount of time with him. Fingers crossed. #dogs #shelterdogs

Very good progress today. I'm still wearing gloves as a precaution, and I have her on a long line in the playground - mainly because I think she can get over our 6 foot fence. But she affiliates very nicely, responds to mild correction when she uses her mouth inappropriately #dogs #shelterdogs

My newest project dog is going to be a challenge to work with. 9 month-old Malinois who was taken from a hoarding situation. Her early socialization seems to have been a disaster; her idea of interaction generally involves mouthing or grabbing her handlers...

It took a couple of days, but I got through this guy's barrier reactivity. Once you break the ice, he's just a big ol' house hippo. #dogs #shelterdogs #pitties

9 month old malinois, rescued from a hoarding case. She is understandably insecure and somewhat mouthy, and completely untrained. #dogs #shelterdogs #DogsofBluesky

New arrivals at the shelter #puppies

This is the girl who was surrendered last week wearing both a shock collar and prong collar. Aside from being dog reactive, I haven't seen any problem behaviors. #dogs #shelterdogs ##DogsofBluesky

Just after sunset.

So a dog was surrendered to the shelter today, wearing a prong collar AND a shock collar. All this because she is supposedly has poor leash manners and is reactive to other dogs. We'll have to find out how reactive she is when she's not getting shocked whenever she sees one. #dogs #shelterdogs #R+

I held off on this post for a few days in case any issues arose with this adoption. And, glad to say none have come up. This is an example of how we can treat behavior issues by maximizing animals' agency and ability to make choices. #dogs #shelterdogs #caninebehavior animalnerd.com/providing-a-...

The behavior modification plan worked. He willingly climbed into my car and his adopter's car. Our boy went home today. #dogs #shelterdogs

This is an unanticipated problem. Our 130 lb bloodhound was adopted today. Experienced adopter, seems like a perfect match. Right up until the dog absolutely refused to get in the car. He wasn't fearful, he just didn't like the car.

Us: "She's a big, rambunctious girl who plays too roughly for small kids. Are there any small children in your home?" Adopters: "Oh no! Our children are grown." Us: "Perfect! He's all yours." The adopters took her home and immediately had their small grandkids over to meet her. #dogs

We've had some good adoptions lately. We just need to find the right home for this big knucklehead. #gsd #dogs #shelterdogs

We're enjoying a brief pause between rain showers. #dogs #corgi #DogsofBluesky

I responded to a facebook inquiry about a "natural" flea and tick repellent that uses "Natural biogenic frequencies", and now my feed is full of advertisements for every ridiculous "natural" flea repellent being marketed. Thanks, zuck. Your algorithm sucks. #dogs #flea

And...she was returned. No real problems, it just was not the right fit. #dogs #shelterdogs

I've never seen so many purebred dogs in in out little shelter. We have one bloodhound, one poodle, one English bulldog, two GSDs and one dachshund. #dogs

The bathroom remodeling is officially underway. The foreman is on sight, inspecting things. #corgi #dogs #homeimprovement

Its the spring shedding season, so here's a reminder to please be careful about leaving your dog's brushed-out outside for birds to use as nesting material. If you use a topical flea/tick preventative for your pets, their shedded fur can be toxic to nestling birds. #dogs #birds #spring

There is a fly in the house and Mina is not having it. #dogs #corgi #DogsofBluesky

More of Mina's conference swag. So far, it seems to be Corgi-proof. #dogs #corgi

The CCPDT has amended its policy documents. It's a big improvement but I wish it had gone further in some areas. #dogs animalnerd.com/recent-chang...

Dog: Play time! Me: Sorry, I can't. I have work to do. Dog: Play time! Me: No can do. We'll play later! Dog: PLAY TUG!!! NOW!!! Me: Well, I guess I can take a break... #dogs #corgi

Mina is enjoying some of her conference swag. #dogs #corgi #DogsofBluesky

New arrival at the shelter, 18 months old and 85 lbs. He's a friendly, rambunctious boy and completely untrained. I doubt he'll be with us long enough for me to do.much with him. #dogs #gsd #shelterdogs

Maybe we should invest in a spinning wheel. #corgi #dogs

We thought Mina wasn't being spoiled enough, so we left her with my cousin while we were out of town. Now that we're all home, I think she misses it. #corgi #dogs #DogsofBluesky

The conference has a kitten room. #Iaabcconference2025
