Skin color.
Exactly how it was before the 14th amendment.

and I think a lot of people realize deep down that if they were to ever switch their basic morality back "on" again post-pandemic, the full weight of their self-centered choices would crush their self-perception, so to avoid it they just simply stop caring about others, a sort of sunk cost fallacy

It's because Schumer, on an ideological level doesn't actually oppose much of what Trump is doing. He's more preoccupied with the optics and civility of government than the actual substance of it.

You mean one of few journalists that actually calls out Nazis for being Nazis?
Are you thinking about someone else?

RFK need to be understood by looking at the most radical parts of the antivaccine and "natural" health ecosystem.
These people truly believe that disease makes you healthier, and anyone that dies in the process was just unfit to begin with.
It's just eugenics dresses up as a hippie.

AI's only use is shit posting. Make these companies spend billions on data centers just to generate the most mid images possible.

Paul Offit is a good one. I would also recommend Steven Novella, who has been documenting and keeping track of the anti vaccine movement for almost 20 years now.

Honestly, them losing money even faster to try and "own" Meta, would also be incredibly funny.

Like, are there unlockable premium skins?

I know I should read it.
And I want to read it.
But back during the first Trump term, I forced myself to read nothing but books on the rise of fascism, authoritarianism, and white supremacy.
And it absolutely wrecked my mental health and destroyed my ability to read non fiction books.

It's because they used to feel the need to dogwhistle instead of just sig heiling on stage.
The fact that they're so comfortable being open about being fascists means that they think they'll never face repercussions or consequences ever again.

We need to start understanding that tolerance is a peace treaty not a virtue.
Tolerating the speech of hateful bigots is not taking some principled high ground. It is ceding ground to people who's end goal in physical violence.

What the fuck is an "Elon musk salute". It's a Nazi salute. The guy's a Nazi.

There was a surprising amount of desire for straight up fascism on the right. They got a taste of it during the first Trump presidency.
And now the entirety of right wing politics is pure grievance and punishing the people they disagree with.

The only way to post is to post for the love of posting.
Not for followers like some kind of clout goblin.

Lol, ok, so you're a troll. Cool, blocked.

Ok, like, people say things about the war crimes being committed by the nation state of Israel and it's leaders and nothing about Jewish people.
But it's very interesting that you conflate the two.
comment in response to

Ok, but like, if a dude commits warcrimes, does his religion matter?
Or do the warcrimes matter?
Personally, I am anti-warcrimes.

Is this what Vegas was like before social media?
Like people went there and it was a blank hole and nothing you did there escaped?

And even further than, is there a benefit to society for having structures in place that can even generate billionaires?
Is it good to have a system that allows extreme wealth accumulation?
comment in response to
post
I think the better question is "should billionaires exist".
As in, do bltyey bring value to society? Does having billionaires make a society better?
I would say the answer to both those questions is no. They don't bring anything to society, and can only exist due to deep inequality.

I was going to say that it's part of the grifter trap.
They take young men and boys who are maybe a little lost, and tell them that they need to get really into podcasting and crypto. And all that does is make them more and more isolated.

I know!
All things that these manosphere and "alpha male" influencers make fun of.

Also, just how much porn do you need to watch for it to be considered a "hobby"?
comment in response to

Thinking about the survey where being into crypto and manosphere influencers was all less attractive than any traditional "nerd" activities like cosplay or anime.
These grifters have cooked all these young men into a grift that literally makes them repulsive.

The nyt has done a hard right turn.
And all because they got upset at the idea that trans people or Palestinians should deserve human rights.

Honestly, I checked that guy's account and it was all just transphobic bullshit so I blocked him.
Live your best life, block bigots.
comment in response to

Ok, so you know all these anti-trans people are trying to take away gender transition for adults too right?
Also, you know that minors almost never undergo medical transition? That what they're demonizing is socially transitioning? And using new names?
It's important to me that you know that.
comment in response to
post
It's really important to frame all the anti trans rhetoric around health care as taking care away, that cis children could get no issue.
And a refusal to call all the things that cis people get to feel better in their bodies as what it is, gender affirming care.

Computers passing the turing test not because they're getting better, but because people are getting dumber is not how I thought this was going to go.
Also, justifying my decision to stay off threads.
