A criticism I hate is "generic," especially as it relates to fantasy. A critic saying something is "generic" usually means that they didn't like it (which is fair), but it also means they don't see how this thing is different from other comparable things. And that's important for critics to know!

It's hard to overstate just how much the Pathfinder 2e mod for BG3 has revived my interest in it. I went from struggling to think of any character build that interested me to exploiting the fuck out of stealing from Withers so I could keep fine tuning multiple builds.

Scott Pilgrim is a fun movie because it's like, "Oh, Michael Cera being awkward and geek references, visual comedy, cool!" And then Brie Larson comes on the screen, does *that* song, and then the movie keeps going as if you're able to think about anything else.

I hadn’t given Harm Clerics much thought, but Shadowheart is a Harm Warpriest in BG3’s PF2 mod, and I’m starting to see the appeal. A one-action Harm is a really solid way to add extra damage reliably.

I’ve had a pretty difficult challenge with writing spells the way I have for my TBD fantasy game. Each one has a thematic price related to its effect, and that price has to be relevant even if the spell’s effect doesn’t occur. While difficult, I think it’s led to some fun design too, like this:
