Dude I recently read one of his newer books because I saw it on my Goodreads tbr and was confused why it was on there and (as an exmo) it is so Mormon it hurts. Teenager is mad his dad calls his dead mom his "wife" because they were married "til death do us part" so they aren't married anymore

Unfortunately this is too real. There are a lot of doctors who aren't good at their jobs but because the American health care system is fucked they stay in business. He could have had issues from your insurance but he also could just be terrible at his job (ive seen way too many who are)

The change in the new version is that it isn't a dryer it's a more safe place for a child to hide

They're Mormon so they believe what JS said about the Bible having parts that are translated incorrectly (so you CAN pick and choose) but even if I use the BOM (which is supposedly the most perfect book in existence) they still get mad when the lessons are the opposite of trump/right wing America

My family argues he didn't break laws he was killed because the Jews bribed the Romans and then they deliberately deny proof to the contrary. Any Bible story they don't like I actually made up and if I show it to them in the Bible I'm taking it out of context because they don't want to believe that

He was trying to subtly say he doesn't agree with her while really focusing on how he's choosing not to insult her because he's grateful to her, and honestly being able to ignore the effects of her actions and deliberate choices to try and hurt people is a sign of the privilege of not being affected

I happened to see an article about it recently and in the quote in that one it was kinda like don't bite the hand that feeds you but sandwiched with a lot of him saying he has so much respect for jk cuz she brought so many children joy so does it really matter if she has bad opinions sometimes.

That's why he is the only one allowed back into the new TV series because everyone else said they were disappointed in her for being a terf and he said he won't publicly insult her so she's letting him play a character in the new show

Makes a top ten golden retrievers list that somehow has 499 dogs on it. I love it though

This must be why autistic people love Pluto!!
(Obviously joking because loving Pluto isn't unique to autistics, or encompassing of all autistics)

It's literally the origin of vaccines (cow pox vs small pox). We've just had time for modern medicine to improve the system (so you typically don't feel sick, but still get the benefits)

Have you heard antivaxxers argue that instead of vaccines we should purposely expose people to a mild form of the disease so they will live through it and gain immunity without risking dying of the disease? It's literally how vaccines started (infect people with cow pox so they don't get small pox).

And America likes to point to one example of the 32 with a specific and fixable problem and say it is proof it's impossible. Even if there were no examples of paying doctors based on specialty instead of flat rate regardless of specialty, knowing that is an issue makes it really easy to avoid

It's annoying because he is actively choosing to consume propaganda, and then using the propaganda to decide he understands the billionaires and that he 100% knows they are good people so anything bad he learns must be a lie or an accidental consequence of a good choice

The story I remember most was Elon giving a Tesla to a black kid for fixing a tire (in the video my dad watched there is an AI generated image of Elon and black child on a road in a nondescript rural area). Here's a snopes article about these videos www.snopes.com/fact-check/b...

Even if you think the only people working at Starbucks are high schoolers, going on strike is protected in America, and union busting should never be supported

I made the comment to my bil that parents aren't the sole influence on their children, and how they turn out (especially once the children are adults) and he got so mad. He said if he tells his kids who they have to be, they have to be that for the rest of their lives, even once he's dead

I'm from a large family, and I'd be told things like at least they remembered to bring all my siblings, or at least none of us were left at the party/activity (which also happened sometimes, but then an adult could call my home and once my parents got home they'd answer and come get me)

Used to happen to me frequently. I'd suddenly realize I was home alone and several hours later my family would get home from some party or activity and not have realized they hadn't brought me the entire time. I would always ask to not be left home alone without warning (I was about 7 the 1st time)

Calling either of them an expert (or even saying their debate is a reflection of what other people who are the experts think) is wild
