Brilliant prof and has been on the right side of a lot of legal battles but yeah he suffers from existing in an atmosphere of academic flatulence for decades. It is (or was?) dogma in law prof world to love Scalia’s writing. It’s like middle aged white dudes who feel obligated to like Tom Waits.

Yeah, I get that. I’m frequently frustrated when listening to a news/current events podcast and they don’t get into one of the crucial details of a story or they leave an obvious conclusion unspoken.

IMO she’s not naive about this at all. I think she was making an observation about the current state, not predicting that it won’t get worse. She’s pretty vigilant and aware when it comes to all this MAGA madness.

It’s true there are exceptions to the general rule that you should never talk to the police (in some self-defense scenarios, for example, talking *might* be beneficial), but they are so rare. I respect what the PD did here, but man, talk about going out on a tightrope with no net.
