We hate stinky

Through the support of our NSF grant focusing on open source medical care we are excited to be working on an Open Healthware Conference in New York in August! Check out the conference website and explore how you can get involved: healthware.oshwa.org

[P] I honestly don't know why we're not all constantly talking about @SmallBuStudio's Baman Piderman. https://youtu.be/G18jhC3b53A

This photo is of a child in my community. Who was in anguish not only because she is clearly being roughly restrained, but because ICE is taking her mother. For years, Human Rights Commission members in Worcester were assured that WPD doesn't "cooperate with ICE." There's no other way to frame this.

What if there was a breadboard for lab instruments and #labautomation? Science Jubilee may be just that. Read our overview of this low-cost, open source lab automation platform that has evolved from the Maker community! theautomatedlab.com/article.html...

Based on some recent feedback, I've been thinking lately that a good workhorse plate reader would meet the majority of lab experiment needs.

My collaborator Danny Chan is going to talk about, #labautomation, #bioart, and BioArtBot at Bio Club Tokyo next week. If you're in Tokyo (or just willing to dial in on Tokyo time) check it out!

Anyone here know about archival zooplankton storage? #help

Trans people have exist, have always existed, and will always exist, no matter what any court or any President or any billionaire or any uneditable novelist might say.

People will always say they’re your friend and they support you no matter what but then they’ll say some toxic shit to you like “you have to let go of the cursed amulet, it’s changing who you are” and “don’t let its power corrupt you” all because they want the amulet for themselves

Great crowd in Oakland today #HandsOff

I was originally going to have a speech bubble coming off the possum saying “Fossil fuel companies want you to think it’s too late to act on climate change” and then have “it is not too late” but @wowthanks.bsky.social was like “too long, how about this”, and I was like yeah. That’s better.

Results inconclusive, but I won't stop having a bit of the bitey

If Nintendo were serious, they would put Carrington from Kentucky Route Zero in Smash

If you know a student or someone between jobs in biotech, send me a DM for a discount code to our upcoming BioArtBot workshop. There's no reason cost should limit access to STEM skills workshops

I'm hosting a BioArtBot workshop on Saturday March 29th at BioCurious in Santa Clara! Join us to use an automated liquid handling robot and colorful microbes to grow drawings on petri plates. It's a playful mix of microbial ecology, lab automation, and art!

In the third part of the story, Beowulf fights Grendel's Landlady's Niece

Making stuff with generative AI isn't particularly fun, nor does it produce good results, BUT the output never looks unskilled. If I tried to do this by hand, it would be obvious that I'm bad at the modeling tools. Is this stuff popular because you never have to face that feeling of unskilledness?

Just sayin

The thing that matters for a gov’t is SUSTAINABILITY. Can the gov’t provide services, can it continue to be legitimate to its population , can it resolve both massive disasters and small disputes. Asking if a gov’t is profitable is like asking the how much a thought weighs. A nonsensical question

When you decide to read the raw GCODE

My time has come

It's interesting, because the choices that the president makes and how it will affect you is *why* you should care who is president. It's not a sports team, you know?

I'm losing the group text, again

Little thread of Valentine's animations! 💌 have a LOVEly day 🌹

Block Koala

This is the kind of thing that I think is extremely important for us to continue the basic functioning of society. We have to say what we mean. People given responsibility have to be responsible. And when they screw it up, we have to say so and do something about it.

district judges have a lot of discretion in how they handle this sort of apparent misconduct. it's critical that Judge Kollar-Kotelly put Bradley Humphreys and whomever he received information from on the stand and question them under oath, ideally tomorrow.
