I don't want to overstate my understanding, for sure. I feel fairly confident they work on math though, right?

This is fair. I wonder if some of the divergence in discourse about AI is because some people treat it as a technology issue and some treat it as a social issue. I guess I feel it's a big ball of techno-social.

AI Seinfeld is compelling because it is created by AI, and thus is in discussion with the nature of art itself. That's cool! But it's hard to imagine laughing outloud from it

But I'm "mad at AI" anyway because I think the discourse supposes all that is important in art is creative novelty, whereas I find art most impactful when it is contextualized in some experience of life or culture. Seinfeld rules because it was in discussion with the quirks of 90s yuppie life.

Personally, the idea of an underlying principal component vector describing genre was always my mental model, and I think it's (very!) cool that we have found math to point at it.

To extend the metaphor, the thing that is frustrating to me about our current situation is that all my favorite TV shows have been replaced with this dancing bear. It's interesting the bear can dance, and I suspect it means Important Things, but I also would like to enjoy "good" art, you know?

I am in the middle of this. What's going on lately? I have no idea.

Yeah, exactly - no stakes!

Sustainability is not in the lexicon. A business that is there in order to do something besides be sold for profit is literally not in the tax code.

In my experience, Ed Zitron does not need winding up, which I love about him
