Last time I passed it it had become self catering holiday apartments. Definitely looks a lot less manicured than in that postcard photo.

Other than the human candles thing, and having his wife, mother and step mother murdered, and having half of Rome burnt to the ground to make way for a palace made of stolen marble, Nero seems like quite a decent bloke. Promoted the arts and culture in Ancient Rome, particularly music and poetry.

When I was about 12 my brother told me the animation sequences in Monty Python and the Holy Grail were genuine medieval animations from the middle ages. I think I carried on believing they were until an embarrassing late age.
