Discord/privacy as an option plus rising online toxicity and bots probably driving the erosion.
I don’t spend a ton of time there, but I find myself in the minority. I’m not sure how to reverse the trend, but losing an actual open internet seems like a real loss.

I wonder how much of it is just people retreating into discord and other private forums essentially.

Split screen mp was the height of video gaming. Nothing beat going over to your friend’s house to play goldeneye on the n64. Same room social interaction.

Specifically any claim that campus activists/mobs/sundry imagined collectives incited the shooting should just be rejected out of hand. The KKK announcing at a rally that they’re going to march for “revengeance” on DC doesn’t even count. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branden...

Do you envision the AI role for managing relationships to manage animosities between individuals or groups? (The living in a group house scenario) Maybe somewhat like a mediator between coalitions, groups, or individuals?

For sure. I think a decent starting point would be even just having a competent AI agent, public facing, that would function like messaging your congressional office. Just intake, sort, and summary of complaints and issues. Seems like low hanging fruit given the average responsiveness today

It’s crazy that people assume governance will be the last place it touches when anything with lots of training data (most basic white collar jobs) seems to be being overtaken first.
I think you’re correct here. Political comms and writing has tons of training data. Solidly in that middle.

as with the twitter purchase the savvy people are all saying "it will be fine", "nothing to worry about" and it just doesn't work that way.

It does seem like it’s hitting all parts of Twitter. Seems like they probably seriously broke something while trying to change over everything to X.
