Plus there are way more materials than sticky rubber that provide good if not better penetration protection.

I understand the resistance to sticky rubber tips but I am increasingly convinced that the way to reduce concussions has very little to do with tips and much more to do with mandating mouthguards and improving mask design. The sword tip shouldn't be relied on to skip off of targets.

Cake more like GAYke. Garlic bread more like GAYlic bread. TyrannosaurACE rex.

Well then I'll have to pick one up soon! What's your camera setup like? Did you use a particular stacking app? This is definitely way more vivid than what I usually see out of my 8".

Really cool. 8" or 10"? Do you find yourself using the red dot or telrad more?

Economy blade, technically. Their new economy blade is way closer to their standard blade than their previous model!

Hah, I'd forgotten that I watched this! Thanks for bringing it back to my attention

"Actually no, its biasing exploration (measured in engagement) over personalisation"
Nails it. I think that's a large part of what rankles enough to merit a little rant in the form of a comic!

I think YouTubers are getting more savvy about what kinds of things will consistently pull audience attention. We like to blame algorithms but in a lot of ways the YouTube algorithm is pretty straightforward - videos that people click on more, get recommended more, so it's mostly about user behavior

My current working theory is basically "people are kinda dumb and have trash taste (yes, including me when it comes to most topics), and that's mostly ok and part of being people"

Exactly the thumbnail/title combo I thought of. I haven't watched the video because that framing turned me off, but it seems like if you want people to watch, you gotta play the clickbait game...

Very nice haul. Keep an eye on the VB arming sword, it's on the stiff side and delivers bruises quite easily.

Sorry for this. It got stuck in my head. If you hate it I will take it down.

Is this for SoCal Swordfight?
I'm gonna be doing the same come July for our regional event, not looking forward to the finger cramps.

It's got too much juice. Bluesky is exhibiting classic signs of "small place got big" syndrome.

Unfortunately, it is against the rules of Wordle for an answer to be a simple plural with an S at the end, so the word will never be "butts". Perhaps we can hope that it will one day be "booty", "peach", "dumpy", or "gyatt".

Monster Hunter. When you've been fighting a monster and realize you need to leave now to sharpen weapons or drink a health potion, but the monster is aggroed on you and attacking nonstop while chasing, running and giving away to dodge attacks is very fun.

That episode felt like a mild fever dream. I can't even fully remember what happened. I'm not quite sure what tummy buddy is. All hail tummy buddy.

In my experience learning about world history, there was a large perceived gap between the ancient Egyptians and the ancient Greeks, and the two didn't meet until Alexandrian conquests. Going to Greece last year and seeing the obvious influences from thousands of years earlier was incredible!

Burgers have protein which builds muscles you need to swing swords. You're basically cross training right now.

If you're serious about external storage you don't want all your data on one disk, you want at least 2 disks in a RAID. The easiest way to accomplish that is usually with a NAS. They're not that expensive either.

Something that is important to remember is that children are very stupid (it's not even their fault) and you have no obligation to listen to them

It was barely visible to the naked eye, just a smudge you could glimpse when looking off-center. Binoculars made it clearly visible (though still dim). The Pixel's Astrophotography mode is truly amazing, I wasn't sure it would show up!

I think it's called that because usually you sear steak at the beginning, but if you bake it first then you sear it at the end. It's a dumb name. Also, second on the thermometer recommendation.

One of the priests at my childhood church would make sure to play with everyone at the Paschal feast. His egg didn't always win... But he did make sure to trade his broken egg with your unbroken one if you beat him!

Just FYI this is a gen AI image. Based on your account, it doesn't seem like you normally post AI junk on purpose, so I thought I'd leave this comment.

Tangentially, I found myself going "wow, this book's political issues are really relevant to today's events" and then realized they were also very relevant during the book's release in 2020(?) then realized they were also very relevant during the writing in 2016(?) and oh god this is America
