The SignalGate saga continues…

Today I checked out a book I'd reserved at the library, and I got the usual emailed notification from them, but this time it informed me that I "just saved $26" by checking it out instead of buying it. That's a pretty good idea for helping people appreciate the value of their public library!

FFS I got death threats about making Optimus Prime the wrong kind of truck when I wrote the TRANSFORMERS movie. Do the job or get out of the way.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

Mohsen Mahdawi of White River Junction, Vermont was illegally detained by ICE during what was supposed to be the final step in his citizenship process. Mr. Mahdawi, a legal resident of the US, must be afforded due process under the law and immediately released from detention.

Everything is breathtakingly stupid

The Librarians is a must-see documentary about the recent history of book banning in the US

“Hey, hey, Elon, How many kids did you kill today?” admittedly doesn’t rhyme as well as the original. But that’s not as important as Elon being responsible for the needless deaths of tens of thousands of kids.

An innocent man, picked up by “mistake,” must not be allowed to rot in an El Salvadorian jail. Mr. President. Obey the courts. Obey our Constitution. Bring him home immediately.

If you're in the middle of U.S.A. this weekend, I'd recommend turning off your screens and going out to look at birds.| birdcast.info 📊🪶

Good time to remember that DOGE has already cost the US Treasury more than $500 billion according to internal IRS estimates.

Good morning. Today is the 80th day that the U.S. President is running a backdoor bribery scheme in which any CEO or foreign oligarch can send him money secretly through his crypto coin scam in exchange for favors. It's the biggest scandal in the history of the Presidency.

In any normal administration, the Director of National Intelligence committing voter fraud would lead to an immediate resignation and criminal investigation.

this whole thing is absolute manufactured chaos just to make the boy king feel important

War hero schools a chickenhawk.

This is a big deal. Spread the word. But it’s tiny compared to the totality of what’s happening at NIH. Cure Research for all cancers, Alzheimer’s, everything is being gutted. Intentionally. It’s all getting burned to the ground but the news isn’t getting out. The new cures won’t be there for you.

when people say "this isn't what I voted for" they should be forced to list what they DID vote for

Just a legal historian here reminding everyone that “high crimes and misdemeanors” do not need to be felonies. They can include political abuses and stupidity, like, hypothetically, destroying the economy and wiping out people’s savings in 3 days.

You may be fearing your 401k is no longer enough for you to retire. But with all the cuts to NIH and Medicare you also won't live as long. So the policies are integrated.

Exactly right

I’d like an app that makes the phone emit a piercing awful shriek when I pick it up.

Republicans in Congress are hoping you won’t pay attention to them for the next 36 hours. Why? Because they're pushing through their unpopular plan that gives tax handouts to billionaires and billionaire corporations and leaves everyone else in the dirt. youtube.com/shorts/RZ-nl...

LinkedIn is a pretty odd mix of pseudo-business shamanism and TED talk 10X your life inspired gibberish. I have a few long time connections on there and so I won’t delete it… but it’s kind of a bizarre platform.

Harvard has a $52 billion endowment. It can fucking stand up to Trump.

The guy is a virus. Everything he touches fails and everyone near him is destroyed, or in jail. He can’t take his last breath soon enough.

RFK is a eugenics freak first and foremost and everything falls downstream from that. he *wants* excess deaths. he thinks that only the "fit" should survive.

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously. Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

Here’s an unctuous toady who has zero scruples around caring about what could have happened to troops due to the morons running national security and confuses luck with what her actual job is, which is making sure people don’t have to rely on luck to stay alive www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/u...

Cmon spring!

It's critical to keep naming these losses, not in the spirit of "can you believe what they're doing," but to remember what's being lost. I've taught students from countries that erase the past, and they're stunned to learn of major events in their own countries. That's the fascist goal here.

Got out to do some work on RT125 project today… this one looking downstream towards Ripton, Vermont.

This is the way. Write your pension fund, school, city comptroller and demand divestment from Tesla.

Dark times.
