I'm a fusion scientist and had to follow this story all the way back to the original article before it made any sense. (Fast ion losses reduce the plasma self-heating and can damage the wall of the reactor, most standard simplifications to make the modelling easier miss a lot of the collisions.)

What is wild to me is that humans until industrialization would have two blocks of sleep. After a first sleep of some hours they would wake up and do stuff: visit friends, have sex, a small meal etc. And then they'd turn back in for a second longer sleep. So don't worry if you wake in the night.
