I have decided to speak my truth re: The Cool Baseball Catch. defector.com/i-think-this...

I feel like when the guy third in line for the presidency says someone should be tarred and feathered, in response to a direct question about legal action, maybe we dig into that a little more? Yes, it’s a figure of speech, but you clearly want this person punished, what would be appropriate to you?

Now the Speaker of the House, second in line to be President of the United States, is calling for the elected leader of the 4th largest economy in the world to be publicly tortured for [checks notes] defying the treasonous whims of the wannabe dictator currently occupying the Oval Office.

Trump is aggressively incurious and ignorant about most things outside of thuggery and being on TV, but the new thing this term is that he’s made sure there’s nobody around him to correct him or tell him no. It’s not a good spot for the country.

Patiently awaiting apologies from all the people who told me that describing Trump as a "fascist" was an overreaction.

"Democrats should focus on kitchen table issues, not cultural issues"

Hey @atrupar.com You see way more footage than almost anyone here. It seems like the felon is doing a lot more sitting at his desk doing his ceremonial stuff than he used to. Do you see the same thing and if you do, why do you think that’s the case? Health? Other?

Where we are as a country

LAPD just out there being the LAPD.

Facebook reminded me of thismemory 5 years ago when I made a list of replacement names for Army posts in the US. (Still a pretty good list, I think!)

There are reports that service members were vetted in advance to ensure they would go along. If true, that makes it even worse. It means those in charge were complicit in the breakdown of professional norms.

oh my God a New York Times editor had to resign 5 years ago over publishing an op ed by Tom Cotton calling for the military to shut down George Floyd protests now Wall Street Journal is letting him do the same shit separately, "Tom Cotton" sounds like the final boss in a video game about slavery

I reserved two parade viewing tickets under the name of the guy who killed Musso. Tips: any old phone number will work, it seems, except 867-5309. No matter what area code, it's taken. (Gen X represent!) Also any made up email seems to work. You'd think they would have learned from Tulsa. But nooooo

Meanwhile they are stripping the names of Harvey Milk, Thurgood Marshall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Harriet Tubman, Delores Huerta, Lucy Stone, Cesar Chavez and Medgar Evers off the Navy ships christened for them.

Trump, talking at Fort Bragg right now about Los Angeles, is doing something I'm not sure I've ever seen a president do: he's actively maligning people in Los Angeles — an American city — in front of U.S. troops. And the troops are applauding. As an Army brat myself, this strikes me as very new.

Just beyond the pale, absolutely dangerous and corrosive. President basically rallying active duty US military for war against fellow Americans in an openly partisan way via @atrupar.com

It's also fucked up that these soldiers are doing it and cheering for it. Absolute loser shit. Zero leadership. Zero decorum. Zero recognition of their place in the constitutional order.

🫡

It is truly a 10-alarm fire that he's giving such a hatefully partisan speech in front of cheering uniformed troops.

He has never read a book. It's mortifying.

Ben gets it, instead of lamenting the dying embers of institutional journalism, he started a new flame. Him and his friends took a furnace about to be decommissioned and brought it back to a blazing life in the form of @theonion.com

NEW: With two weeks to Primary Day, Andrew Cuomo's lead has shrunk, with Zohran Mamdani on the verge of a historic upset. My thoughts on the impending showdown between new movements and old institutions, and why Team Cuomo should be worried: www.michaellange.nyc/p/andrew-cuo...

Didn't Joni Ernst just catch a lot of heat for saying "everybody dies?"

Insane revisionist history to say Cuomo “jump-started” the 2nd Ave. subway. It was well past the point of no return when he entered office, and he only really started taking an interest in the project a year or two before it was completed. All documented here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_...

People who run red lights are utter assholes. This guy didn't even slow down, barreling through the crosswalk as I jumped out of the way.

Yeah but Biden is old, right?

You know, I try to stay away from this kind of analysis but in this case I think that this is a clear case of the powerful seeing a center-left alliance against their candidate growing and freaking out about it.

Whatever you think about Zohran, the success of his candidacy has been largely driven by a pretty obsessive focus on affordability and kitchen-table issues.

Trump threatens to use “heavy force” against anyone who protests his military parade this weekend, and note that he makes no exception for peaceful protesters

"heavy force" so, he'll be deploying the military to protect the military.

Yes. Pumpernickel bagel, toasted, lox spread, maybe tomato. And I rarely drink OJ, but gimme dat pulp.

Heads up: Trump just said he would invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807 if necessary to deal with protests in Los Angeles.

More people should be talking about the utter freak that is Stephen Miller and his white nationalist worldview. He's the architect behind most of this chaos as Trump is golfing, falling asleep during meetings, making money of memecoins and tripping while climbing stairs.

It’s official. Studio Execs are now using Chat GPT to evaluate screenplays. Here’s proof from a friend’s pass letter: Not only is it vague and unhelpful, it references one specific — an antique camera. The problem? THERE’S NO ANTIQUE CAMERA IN THE FUCKING SCRIPT.

Philly local tv station reporting that a man allegedly posed as an ICE agent in order to rob a car repair business office. How many other criminals might be getting this idea right now, given that actual ICE agents are refusing to show IDs, warrants, badges?

The Secretary of Defense lies under oath, claiming "21 million illegals" entered under Biden. Trump previously invented a 20 million figure out of thin air at a campaign rally. Recently, he randomly started saying 21 million. Now his surrogates are parroting that fake number.

It’s not just that it’s clearly intentional, it’s that it’s clearly intentional knowing that he’s being recorded. They know they can do whatever they want with complete impunity.

It’s wild how MAGA purports to be all about tough masculinity and “eff your feelings” and every complaint (and now criminal case!) is like “Someone frowned at my heavily armed stormtroopers and made them scared!”

"A society can't allow EVERYBODY to have free speech!" is a helluva take.

this is profoundly inappropriate and probably a hatch violation, but it’s also comically stupid sine he’s term limited, these people are all fucking morons

Whoa! Big news for @mergerecords.bsky.social and all best to Laura. variety.com/2025/music/n...
