Local woman wakes up, conducts oatmeal next survey that asks whether funding should be withheld to conservative politicians and their rich friends, makes oatmeal.

Also. We had to pay monthly subscriptions to use the Internet for like 10 or 20 hours per family per month. Seems healthier.

Well, the courts are officially dead. Great.

'bout sums it up.

”Results show that by 2050, 50% final energy demand reduction compared to 2019 is possible in Europe, with at least 40% of it attributable to various sufficiency measures across all sectors.” A reminder: EU-27 does not have to be addicted to foreign fossil fuels. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

The resistance is taking place in song and in street action. We need every voice speaking up against the Trump/Netanyahu/Putin gangster gang. Jesse Welles is a great singer of the resistance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vcc3...

I often see it said that CO₂ removal (CDR) is needed ALONGSIDE drastic emissions reductions to reach net zero. I think this is incorrect. I think CDR is needed AFTER drastic emissions reductions. The distinction is important as it specifies when we use renewable energy to deploy CDR at scale.

As an Iranian American, it feels like I need to help explain something: A friend recently expressed confusion as to why those in the Iranian diaspora (liked myself), who hate the regime, would be opposed to the attacks on Iran. I’ll try to explain my thoughts/feelings. 🧵

Meant to mention this last week, but if you have a young person in your life who’s into history or graphic novels or just good books, buy them George Takei’s “They Called Us Enemy.” My oldest couldn’t put it down.

What a privilege to live on this beautiful, bounteous, perfect planet. We really ought to look after it better. Imagine being so complacent, or so desperate to fuck off to Mars, that you can't simply cherish what's staring you in the face.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people: 1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money 3) We won’t need a lot of troops 4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq 5) We’ll find WMDs 6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators 7) It will be easy 8) It won’t take long All lies.

Since this will get a certain premier talking about a certain province’s oil and energy sovereignty in Canada, please remember that in order for bitumen t be useful there will also need to be a refinery built. So a pipeline and at least, at least, one refinery

Best analysis I've seen yet

I'm going to need a lot less tweeting and stern letters from elected officials, and more action. We already know where you stand on the issue. DO SOMETHING. Dreading waking up tomorrow.

Reminder a lot of Canada is on fire right now and any boring old home insurance conference doesn't treat climate change as a theory but a business model now, yet even liberal politicians are pretending it isn't a top issue facing humanity

Netanyahu has suckered the United States into a dangerous war with Iran. It is all about distracting us from the death camp that is Gaza. Israel is committing mass crimes against humanity. The world has gone along for the ride and now we are seeing the dangerous results of unchecked criminality.

Dog sit broken. Send help.

Seriously

Fuck. Well, nice knowing y'all

The scariest part of climate collapse is how ordinary it’s starting to feel. This week, I wrote in Canada’s National Observer about smoke season, moral injury, and raising kids in a world that shrugs it off. #ClimateSky

'The McGill study says methane emissions from these wells is about 230 kilotonnes yearly, as opposed to the government's current estimate of 34 kilotonnes.' #FailingPetroState #BadGovernement

And this is the government that, going forward, will make it more difficult and expensive for citizens to obtain covid vaccines - even though the cost of providing free vaccines is far lower than the costs incurred in treating patients who contract covid (to say nthg of productivity losses).

So accurate it hurts

A heavy week. ICE is targeting people through their medical records, as Alberta sets new COVID policy that would make RFK Jr. blush. This one will stick with you.

23 amendments made to Bill C-5 at midnight last night. To me the most crucial one read, in part, as follows: "The Minister must ensure that a process is established that allows for the active and meaningful participation of the affected Indigenous peoples..." 1/ www.ourcommons.ca/documentview...

‼️‼️‼️

*all this* is so freaking cool

Read this now. As a former lifeguard, it terrifies me I have never seen this list before
