Schwarber didn’t have Devers’ track record and only had an OPS+ comparable to Devers in his walk year. He got paid less because there were still questions not because he was solely a DH.

Maybe like get an offensive force with an OPS+ over 140….oh

I don’t understand how no one asks Cora what he said to Devers to convince him to sign long term with Boston.

Yep. In 2024 the Canadian government instituted caps on international students. And in most provinces (like Ontario), we are seeing cuts to programs etc because of the lack of public funding. Getting bleak out there.

It would be interesting to know the trends in concoction related offences - while GenAI can be harder to prove, it hallucinates sources.

Agreed...just so many “whiny athlete gets his comeuppance” or “he should shut up and play” takes out there its kind of sad.

I still think this works out well for a 5th starting pitcher type who’s approaching FA and been paid less than the value he brought to his teams.

I mean…they were already doing it to large groups of people and those in power have mostly failed to meet the challenge.

Interesting - I draw most of how I think on Columbo from how Valverde analyzes Holmes and Poirot as pushing the genre after it emerges from Poe so this makes sense. Thanks!

Interesting - I’ve always read him less a cop and more like the Holmesian outsider typical of early detective fiction. Singularly focused on case (his car, lack of gun or caring about other crimes). Some family member knowing some odd fact similar to the weird repertoire of knowledge of that genre

At our uni, essays that are suspected of GenAI are supposed to be forwarded to an academic integrity unit after you meet with the student. While it is hard to prove the use of GenAI, there are often hallucinations and concocted sources which are also offences and lead to similar sanctions.

It is more of a procedural issue to mess with my sleep schedule than to deport people to concentration camps - Alito.

The Trump administration lawlessly deported someone to a concentration camp. Here’s why that’s bad news for Democrats.

“The reactionary fringe did it!” I say as I list a bunch of evidence free assertions and grievances I have with the left.

“The left really did create a stifling orthodoxy that stamped out dissent.” Citation needed.
Shouting at talks is not the same as banning books, gutting depts & extorting unis to fall in line. Brooks’ mea culpa is hollow & he creates an artificial divide to pretend his ideas didn’t enable all this

I don’t think I ever expected to see the Jays trot out one of the highest payrolls in the league. Does the team have flaws? Of course it does. But getting upset about the Vlad contract means you are thinking this is still the Interbrew era.

Do you know of anyone tracking what the different universities are doing / not doing? It would be helpful when planning conference trips or research events.
