One of the highlights of going on Celebrity Jeopardy was that I got to tell @kenjennings.bsky.social a story about the role he may have played in helping me get my job at ESPN

Wow, I had no clue you claim Offutt as where you hail from! As a Washington native and Seahawks fan stationed there now, that was really cool to learn!
It was a touching story , my father was gone on naval assignments most of my life then I enlisted in the usaf and was gone for 20yrs all over the states and Europe, we finally got together this past August, we share a love of dogs and a dislike of Trump, no snow in Maine, we love it
Always been a fan of his. I wasn't watching when he went on his original run on the show but the legend of that win streak got my attention later and I went out of my way to watch when he returned for tournaments. Seems like a good guy, I'm glad he got the job succeeding Alex Trebek.
Poor Ken is probably getting torched right now by the "TRUE" NFL fans for his role in unleashing you upon an unsuspecting bro-nation.
This is so cool & in that weird SM way in which we feel unrealistically close to folks we follow I now feel like I have written a personal essay about the Hawks.
That’s such an awesome story. I’ve always been in awe of your talent, so this is no surprise. ESPN is a special place - my career there ( on the tech side ) started similarly. Was writing sports tools for fun, someone there found them and me. They made the effort to find talent.
Not sure if you do this, but use your index finger to push the button, not your thumb. Previous champions say the twitch response of your index finger is a couple of milliseconds faster than the thumb, which could make all the difference.
Brings me back to my younger days of living in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle in the 70's. Watching the Sonics win it all, going to the very first ever game at the Kingdome and cheering the Seahawks with Jimmy Z and Stevie L!
Was fortunate to live in Seattle for the Hawks runs in 13-14.
This was my first introduction to your writing and I vividly remember reading it on the subway. Great read, and glad it launched you to where you've been since.
Mina, I am the girl soccer dad on the sideline and ripping a horrible coach. This brought back so many memories. My girl went on to play D1 soccer. If I brought her the joy and memories your dad brought you I'd be overjoyed.
This was such a beautiful essay— I was teary eyed several times while reading it. You must be so proud of Mina. I aspire to be the kind of parents you have been. If I am able to give my daughter the life experience to write even a fraction of what Mina wrote, I will feel humbled and fulfilled.
Thanks for sharing this. Hadn’t read this before. Football- and the Hawks- have a way… I have a favorite pic of my dad and my son with Seahawks jerseys on, listening to the Anthem prior to a Hawks game. Nothing better

Thank you for being my best sports follow, by far.

Now I'll have to root for Sam Darnold.

(and now I understand why you're a Seahawks fan)
