Just saying, there's a reason the PC market is expanding and the console market is shrinking. Sometimes you gotta bring a fancy hat to the party folks. Opportunity cost is hard to spot sometimes.

I would argue that one big way the PC market is expanding is by releasing their OWN Nintendo switches and that is evidence that Nintendo doesn't really need to pivot for the sake of pivoting
Yeah, but every single "Nintendo Switch-like" in the PC gaming space has been at least twice as creative about iterating on the form factor than Nintendo.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is really the Nintendo Switch Pro.
The Steam Deck is really the Nintendo Switch 2.
Because it’s in most ways an evolution of the same form factor.
It doesn’t have Nintendo games, physical carts, or detachable controllers. In virtually (perhaps literally) every other way, it’s straight-up a better Nintendo Switch.
The PC market is literally just an iterative product/cycle. What was the last innovative thing we got from gaming outside of RT aka just new hardware. We still have the same control system, and the same display tech. Outside of VR but that's a niche
On one hand I get it, and Nintendo is about the only console maker who'd be up to taking on such a challenge and actually executing on it.
On the other hand, the Switch is the only console I've bought in over 10 years, and I'll immediately be buying the Switch 2.
You don't have to wonder if your old games will keep working when you upgrade. Or your old controllers. You don't have to pay for online. The entry price comes in all sorts of flavors, and you can customize your experience. You're not stuck with a given resolution or frame rate. etc.
Easy. Console gaming pricing is going higher than it should be + they have less exclusives than in the past. Look at the 3 consoles that sold 150m+ and you will see they were able to reach that due these factors.
This is the first time I can recall where they aren’t making a significant hardware change. Makes me feel like there is more to come. Ultimately, you are right about gaming running out of ideas. Until AR/VR advance I think we’ll see only minor upgrades & tweaks. Consoles have become like smartphones
I even would've been happy to just see a Switch 2 with two screens, so they could start preserving the 3/DS era that's currently locked behind either ports or awkward emulation. Something, anything.
Nothing is motivating to get a Switch 2, aside from that's where the Nintendo games are gonna be.

So accessible to kids, families and casual gamers.
Like, I'm not following you train of thought here..?
See: success of Steam Deck etc
That's legit it. The PC Market is expanding due to the most popular games being able to reasonably run on low end pcs.
The only real novel thing in the last ten years is the steam deck and that’s just copying what consoles were already doing.
