Something I never understood: Romania is producing in the last 10-15 years more energy than it consumes, so it exports its energy surplus. But, Romania imports 20-30% energy yearly. WHY?? Doesn't make any sense. Romanian's fossil dependency is <30%. The netherlands didn't turn of nuclear power. And nuclear is not assessed in the report as part of the grid preparedness for the future. Even if you like Nuclear energy (as I do) you shouldn't lie about the assessement of the report. If you want you can read the report yourself, it is linked above

I’m aware the Netherlands does not get their power from #nuclear power but rather and primarily from other sources.
And that was kind of my point. Energi transition to reliable and green energy in a small highly populated area is hard without #nuclear power.

Sorry I came off a bit angry. It just annoys me noboby is willing to look at the report, and just talks about there own pet pieves, like german nuclear or coal power. Instead of the grid challenges like congestion,smart metering, load forecasting, market structure and interconnection capacity.

This is cool. Spain is interesting; despite years of PP sabotage of solar power, it's among the forerunners of renewable energy. Meanwhile, Germany's low readiness surprises me.

That said, what I'd really like to see is a graph of international grid interconnectivity!

Sadly this report does not reflect the reality of renewable developers on the ground trying to get connections. The current high levels of curtailment show a not fit for purpose Grid, which needs far more investment than that permitted by OFGEM. This is both transmission and distribution.

lol Poland has coal mines, they don't give two craps about energy, they tax the Poles criminally high for the "Green Deal" while simultaneously cutting subsidies for solar and heat pumps. Poland is a joke. BUT! Hey! they pay 5% of GDP to NATO
