My take on this is that people can buy amazing games for less than $5 (or even play for free!) but still pay $90 to play Diablo IV a few days earlier. It's a biased narrative centered on a few rich countries like US or Japan, paying $600 for a console and then $80 for a game is not much if your smartphone costs more than $1000 and you pay $24 for a movie ticket.

I don't think I've ever bought a game on launch, in all my life, much less before it launched. Living in a place where 'Judas lost his boots' sort of helped in the late 90's. :D

My only regret was buying Fallout 76 for R$90, during the launch of the Wastelanders DLC.

Lmao, Xbox is almost dead, & this is pretty much ensures it. Nintendo might survive at that price point on Switch 2 because they raised a certain cult following with lots of money, but they are pretty much the only ones. And even for Switch 2, I have my doubts these price points will stand long-term

They have built an audience used to those prices. They will just buy one or two big Nintendo games and nothing else. It effectively kills their competition for a closed system.

As videos of the game are posted on youtube, as people begin to comment... it increases the pressure for some to buy it, regardless of cost.

And 'AAA' knows very well how to push that button.

Post Void cost me like 3 euro, and is more engaging and entertaining than 90% of AAA games releasing today. And that's one game, there's a shitton of great games out there that are better and cost less. Most of them even look better because they have art direction better than "look realistic"

I have 300hs on Path of Exile 1. Invited my friends to play with me, they said it was too janky. Then both bought Diablo IV Deluxe Edition on release.

They are the ones Xbox is targetting, not you and me.
