I'd work on making my shop a success while also getting proper amounts of rest, I'd definitely adopt a puppy, & assuming that I had the funds for it, I would return to Scotland to hike the last 265 km that I've left to go of the 865 km Scottish Nat' Trail! (Before the puppy of course!)
Oh hey! We used to be Twitter mutuals. I was "Deep Green Resilience" (Algonquin wolf icon) before they permabanned me. I've missed your art! You are insanely prolific and your comics are rad. 💚
Finishing things for once in my life. Renovation projects. Car repairs. Video games. 10% of my to-read pile. I’d practice welding and playing music and baking bread, and plant a garden almost as big as I want. I’d sign up for some kind of lecture or community activity series with each of my parents.
Take the sequel to my weeks of road trips in 2016-17 and visit a bunch of people. Say yes to ALL the volunteer opportunities at my church. Start going to SURJ meetings again. Get the medically recommended amounts of sleep and moderate exercise. Sew or crochet something more complex than a rectangle.
Take swing dance lessons with my husband. Convince my dad and his buddy to teach me how to sail. Take at least two naps a week, in a hammock if seasonally appropriate. Make my own sauerkraut. Put up a hummingbird feeder and clean it regularly.
Or maybe have a baby and not do any of the other stuff.
First, catch up on sleep & household chores. Then after that I’d like to go to yoga/Pilates classes regularly to ease my chronic pain. And with the additional free time use it to finish projects for a ui/ux design portfolio or doing arts & crafts for funsies 🤔
Gardening, resting, making soaps/balms/teas, canning, crafting, working on healing my injured back, reading, drinking tea. And maybe once I feel healed and rested, writing.
Painting, drawing, photography, working out for longer, keeping my place cleaner, more traveling (a lot would be camping), taking a class in something relevant to my interests and career development.
I've always wanted to knit Nancy Bush's version of The Crown Prince Shawl, so I would probably do that too. I have the knitting skills to make this, just not the time at the moment. I said that if I ever got married, I would wear this. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crown-prince-square-shawl
I have in mind two different tabletop games I would like to make. Making games takes a bit of research and time because you have to watch your game being tested and how people react to it. If I had a paid year off, I would work on that.
Kittens are surprisingly hard to foster, or so I've found. Endless energy. When I was fostering a litter of incredibly friendly rescues in my former small apartment, a friend eventually had to help out. But I'd definitely do it again. Pure joy.
They were a challenge but an infinitely fun and funny one. We did three litters last summer. I had intended to do it again this year but life intervened.
My passions. I’d have time for more projects at the forge, in the metal shop (they are adjacent), more leather projects, more fabric projects, more stuff in wood. More writing, more music. Definitely more baking. Maybe some more rest, too? I don’t do enough of that.
I'd spend it volunteering/interning with/in wildlife conservation so I'd have 1 of the 3-5 years of experience necessary for an entry level job in the field. Maybe then I could make use of my degree before I am too old to work 😁
Writing, reading, drawing, building Minecraft theme park, Kings Island, Ohio Renaissance Festival, sword training, working to help improve the world, Covid safe small furry conventions, socializing with friends
I kinda had this during Covid; I got laid off from my job, but unemployment at the time was pretty generous. I started beekeeping, got very into orchids, gardened, raised monarch butterflies. All things I still do, even though I'm back working. I would like to travel more, though.
I was unemployed for the first part of the year so I have a glimpse as to what I would do. For starters, since unemployment was a lot less than my actual wage was, I cut back on things outside of home. I tried buying things that I could craft with and explored making wreaths and cooking more.
For me, I realized trying to explore creative outlets and time with loved ones, whether that was gardening together, gaming, etc. is what's truly important to me, not what I do for an income.
I was unemployed for a full year once. Not technically paid except for those extended unemployment benefits. LOL. I took the opportunity to move to another state, buy a house, and set up a completely new life.
Oh geez. It’d be awesome to make a (short) graphic novel, volunteer somewhere, learn a new language or martial art form or travel if there’s enough money. Find some place elsewhere to live that year, live and do stuff around there.
Drawing, painting, sleeping, clearing out clutter from the house, more drawing and painting, traveling to visit friends, and misc other projects (did I Mendon drawing and painting?? 😆).
Maybe whatever coding/maker projects that interest me, but mostly at the rescue I already volunteer at. We do boarding too, and people often ask how much personal time we can give to their animals.
Well, this nervous boi wouldn’t eat unless he could touch, so… this is what we do.
I was thinking "one of my dream jobs" and then I saw that you volunteer. I was a volunteer dog walker and cat socializer at the SPCA for seven years. There were SO MANY pups and kitties who I wanted to take home with me. So many.
My mate and I have four dogs and four cats. And two rabbits. In a house that is admittedly too small for the menagerie. It’s their house, we just live there.
We’ve had more in the past but they don’t live forever. It’s pretty chill now so we know we’re at a good number.
I'd do so much reading, traveling, and gardening. I'd actually do something active every day. A little more volunteer work. Take care of the 101 projects around the house and yard. So many possibilities!

I'm making a note to self to promote your shop.
Thank you so much!! 🥺 I'm hoping to make my shop my full time job so that I can just work from home & be less stressed.❤️ I hope you are doing well!
And I'd probably still have plenty of time to practice and start getting pretty good at playing bass and guitar.
Or maybe have a baby and not do any of the other stuff.
