I started learning it and quit a few weeks in. It's definitely not for the casual language learner. I even found the Duolingo Turkish course harder than Mandarin, Russian, and Hindi.

Perhaps b/c my native tongue is Japanese, Turkish wasn't too hard for me (similar word order & similar ways to add particles to verbs). Completing the Pimsleur Turkish course first really helped my learning. Though I can buy bus tickets & order food at restaurants, I wish I were more fluent!
Yes, the pronunciation is mostly straightforward for Japanese speakers, but I find words containing both ö & ü hard, as in "Sigara içmek öldürür!" Vowel harmony is nice, but it leads to many co-ocurrences of ö & ü. It's fun to say that sentence to unsuspecting men smoking cigarettes, though. 🤣
