In case it wasn't absolutely fucking clear what my stance on AI 'art' is - if you engage with, pay for, apologize for, or consider using AI-generated imagery for your projects, you're lazy, cheap, benefiting from theft and exploitation of labor, and an enemy of human creativity.

There are not ethical use cases for generative AI, period.
What the hell were they doing before that? Whatever that was, do that NOW.
I’m not an expert on game development, but I’m sure devs figured this out prior to 5 or so years ago when GenAI became a thing.
I work with books. For us, there are lots of options like stock photos and licenses.
The artist community, especially in furry, is extremely anti-AI so I’d recommend not doing any further pondering on it.
Now that I’ve answered the questions you asked, I’m done for now.
For two: It's a habit. Don't know why I do it.
Can't art? HIRE AN ARTIST? Can't afford it? Then you don't get to develop a game cause it is an expensive endeavor. That's capitalism.
No excuses.
It's art theft with more steps to avoid being instantly sued out of existence for plagiarism and theft.
But asking if it's okay to use AI art is the same as "hey is it okay to steal art if I can't afford to buy it and can't make it"
it's not
We cannot meet in the middle on this.
I don't want 'what-abouts', I don't want sob stories.
You are burning down the planet and stealing creative labor because you're greedy, and have selective empathy. Period.
I don't want peace. Eat shit.
