I don't feel the actual intention was that, to be honest, more like activism against an oligarch who is a worldwide danger. As a Spaniard I haven't feel lectured at least. However, you have a point, it's a bit unfair as not everyone can afford to replace their car for the sake of their moral compass

As a European I hate Elon. Stickers are available. We don’t need some yank to do it. We also need to consider that some (hey) would like to ditch their Tesla and will when we can. But hey go ahead with the virtue signalling.

All Tesla owners know about Elon. Most bought the car way before this nonsense started and he proved himself to me such an asshole. So don't blame on private car owners because of him, there are several reasons we bought those cars long time ago and the rationale is indeed far from conservative

It's a demonstration of wealth and prestige, certainly in cities like Vancouver, BC. You could own a Leaf or other EV, ride a bike, take public transit or EVO/car share. I think Teslas are pretentious and look like tanks.

Here in Europe for years they've been the only EVs at a reasonable price according their autonomy, until recent KIAs or Chinese brands release. It was not related (as least for me or the owners I know) to appeal for something but to buy an EV you could drive for long in daily basis.

Not "recently proved" at all. Many already knew about his ❤️ for Apartheid, his dad's emerald mine gift and powerplay of buying into existing companies, throwing out the actual creators and claiming he created it. Either you didn't know or you didn't see it as a problem. I'm guessing it's the latter.

Right? My husband bought one because we care about not blowing exhaust in bikers’ faces climbing the hills in Ithaca, for one. Our electricity is supplied by wind, so we’re actually fighting climate change.

Elon is the problem, not the cars. I really wish the courts would let Tesla dump him.
