If a Canadian moves to another country, they still get their Canada Pension Plan and provincial retirement pension, but lose the small, if even eligible, Old Age pension. I suspect similar rules for US citizens.

There are lots of Red State and Fed assets held in blue states. Lots of taxes supporting red states that ends. There are many ways to get back assets held in red states or by feds if they try to withhold what is owed to you, including portion of trillion dollar surplus for Social Security.

If you retain your US citizenship, there will likely be fed tax withheld until (if) you rescind it. Takes months to rescuing and fee is involved and likely interview. But tax laws would give you offset of "foreign" taxes paid.
