Consider submitting FOIA requests to science agencies to get unpublished data before its lost. Who knows what will happen once DOGE fires all the science staff and takes over the computers? Data could vanish.

I hope other ally countries have downloaded all our public data and history. We need it saved in multiple places. Then do the Lara Croft style sensitive data ffs! Also, who has the #LibraryofCongress covered?
This is exactly what Hitler did when he demanded all books written by intellectuals and scientists be burned. He erased the life's work of countless people. Luckily, we have other ways to store these vital documents, but people must act fast before it's gone forever.
Any specific type of data we should be requesting? It's all important but should maybe request more critical or unique research (like the first of its kind you mentioned earlier). Not sure if that would give too much away though.
Thank you AltUSGS!! We stand with you, and with science!
A lot of environmental groups have experience doing this sort of thing, so they may be a good resource. Many labs will have websites online that say what their various projects are. It's hard to say but my guess is that any climate change info will go first.
in the meantime, @archive.org has been publicizing their standard end-of-term web crawl that puts things (I think but don't quote me) on the Wayback Machine. While you're waiting for people not to answer your FOIA, check there.
Hopefully these scientists are saving their work in some form and figuring out how to get it out of these agencies and eventually into more competent hands.
FOIAs will help prove how corrupt this admin is - will they comply? Will anyone sue if they don’t?
Scientific journals are independent from the government. I can't speak for the search engines themselves but research in a respected journal can generally be trusted.
Most of the purging I've heard occurring is in the public health sector, so it is entirely possible PubMed is affected but I cannot verify this. Web of Science, SCOPUS, and ScienceDirect are all alternatives.
The entire purpose of "Trump" is to rewrite history to make insane conspiracy theories "reality" so their adherents will feel better about living in a fantasy. So all of us know what will happen once DOGE does anything.
Well if you really need to know what happens when they shove marbles up a cat's behind and administer electroshock feel free. The computers in question belong to Universities not the government by the way.
This is BRILLIANT. +1000 everyone do this. Easiest way to catch it en mass is to FOIA all studies that include “gender” “transgender” “lgbtq”
They already have them teed up as doge already made this request.
Print paper copies. Post them all over the internet
A lot of unpublished data are publicly available (just not published, so have to ask). The FOIA process is long. Submit a request through the agency’s contact page too, and you’ll probably get a response sooner.
Many labs have webpages on current projects that will talk about work that is underway. I would guess climate adaptation research could be targeted first.
I’d like to see the letters the USGS sent to Reagan warning him of climate change. I was told Reagan’s admin kept returning them until the data was sanitized to the point of being meaningless.

But this data has to be saved another way
