I needed help getting going this morning. This soundtrack is like splashing hot coffee in your face while on a hot coffee IV. #Queen was on one with this soundtrack. And if you’ve never seen Flash Gordon, you should, it is ridiculous. #vinyl #film

Even if there's someone, somewhere on the planet who hasn't seen the movie, there is no one who hasn't at least heard the parts of it shouted by the Blessed Brian!
This is the first album I ever had aged 5. It was incredible and every week I would read the flash Gordon comic strip in the Sundays newspaper and put them on our fridge at home. What a film and soundtrack!!
I had no idea he was in it when I saw it, but I'm a mountaineering nerd so I was like "Ooh Brian Blessed! He tried to climb Everest like three times!" and my partner was like "Who is he?" And of course I had already summed up everything I knew about him so I very confidently stated he was an actor
Ridiculously brilliant stuff! Along with The Empire Strikes Back, this was one of the final orchestral soundtracks recorded at Denham Studios (Anvil Studios) before operations moved to Abbey Road. Queen recorded their Flas⚡️ Gordon material in Munich & London
I loved this movie when I was younger! It's practically going to rain all day so I should search for this movie hopefully it doesn't cost me because it's a classic!🤞🏾😬
I remember hearing that casual Queen fans were pissed that this was advertised as the 2nd Queen LP of 1980 only to find out that it was a goofy scifi movie soundtrack. Haters who didn't make it to "The Hero" at the end missed a 🔥 song
I listened to this at a friend's house in the 80s many times before we got to rent the VHS and see how extra visually Dino DeLorentis crazy the movie was.
Here's the one. I had a copy when I was about 10 years old, but had to re-purchase from a thrift store a few years ago, having lost it sometime while I was in college in the 90s... Great record!
This soundtrack will summon your inner warrior at 7 am and force a scream so primal, Jan in accounting will think someone's tie got caught in the elevator door again!
My sister (who's almost 15 years older than me) and I watch that movie around my b'day just about every year. We came out (see what I did there) the same year.
Told my wife we need to show our kids this movie, they love Queen. She said why not just play the soundtrack? Watching helps appreciate the music more, IMO!
When I sit back and think about, I spent a disproportionate amount of Saturday Morning time watching Flash Gordon until my VHS tape(s) broke. And, like, it's MY problem I had a drug problem, Mom?!
I'll be honest, if they mixed out the dialogue from the movie on the LP, this would hands down be Queen's best album.
Anyways, this is one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever made. I always wished Star Wars had an awesome rock soundtrack. Ask Guardians of the Galaxy, rock works for Sci-Fi.
One of the best rock-infused scores EVER is sadly also one of the most underheard (the film's shit). It's been 27 years, and I still wait for someone to pick up where Joel Goldsmith (may he rest in peace) left off:
Haha, no. I would never call KRULL shit. I've loved that one since I saw it as a kid in the theater. KULL on the other hand is a big steaming pile of horse manure.
Holy memories Batman! I had this record, I need it again. As a young lad I would listen to this every night and sing all the songs... The dialogue would supply my dream fuel...
There's a great live version of the closing song, "The Hero" on the album "Queen- Live on Fire at The Bowl". There's a pre-taped version of "Flash's Theme" that plays at the band comes on stage, and they launch right into it.
An all time favorite, movie and album! The perfect movie soundtrack, not just songs that (sometimes) are partly played during the movie. And best of all, Brian Blessed overactive his a$$ off and enjoying it...DIIIIVE!!
I loved it as a kid and I’m afraid to go back and watch it now. There’s no way it could live up to my memory. The soundtrack, on the other hand still hits as much as ever!
One of my favorite soundtracks and still have on LP too. I just found an old 45 at thrift store of the theme song complete with the cover. 25 cents. Couldn’t believe it lol.
Oh man, I love this movie! It’s pure camp, but eight-year-old me thought it was top-tier filmmaking. The soundtrack still holds up, and it features one of Queen’s all-time best songs.
Remi did a fanstastic job, but the writing was really trite. Worth watching for the spectacular “Live Aid” performance recreation, but then why not just watch the real thing?
Gwilym Lee's Brian was great, too. And who knew that irritating little squirt who survived the dinosaurs in 1993 would grow up to be so good on the bass guitar?
At a certain time of day, in a particular place, given the right circumstances and mood, and a random occurrence, this might be the best album ever made.
It’s a joyous movie, too. Truly terrible. But SO good.

Note to self: clean under couch.
Have seen the movie and lucky enough to see them live in 84 & 86

My first introduction to the wonder that is Brian Blessed (yes, even before Blackadder).

He will save every one of us...
who played Prince Vultan in the 1980 film Flash Gordon, said many things, including:
"Onward my brave Hawkmen!"
"You'll be blown to pieces, Flash! It's suicide!"
"The fabled ice jewel of Frigia; we seized it in battle from the royal crypt."
(Still married her, though.)
I never understood why those two things were incompatible.
